To be honest I didn’t really like him, but even so it wasn’t hard to see how talented and fast he was. A tragic loss of a great talent that had an enourmous career ahead. Rest in Peace, Marco.

I didn’t see Wheldon’s crash live and I didn’t see today’s crash live, though I did see Henry Surtees’ two years ago.

We were talking on twitter earlier and realised that even if things go terribly wrong at such occasions, we’ve been lucky as well. Had things gone slightly differently we could’ve lost Schumacher at Abu Dhabi and Will Power last week, for example.

It’s been a long time since a week I’ve felt so sad, it’s terrible being a motor racing fan these days.

This has left me really numb. My thoughts go to the family, friends and fans of Marco. I hope this isn’t the case of bad things happening in 3′s…. Motorsport community has had enough shocks lately. I realise there are other things in this world which may be more important, but for those who are passionate about Motorsports, this is really tragic news and events and we don’t need any more.

So sad. He was such an exciting rider. It’s a shame that with the whole rider exposed, safety will never be able to be improved upon as much as car racing.

For those who might not know, I just saw that there’s a place where you can leave your tributes to him on the MotoGP web site:

    http://www.motogp.com/en/news/2011/post+and+read+tributes+to+marco+simoncelli

I don’t follow MotoGP closely, but Marco Simoncelli was certainly someone who had captured my attention. What a tragedy this is. I can hardly get my mind around the fact that this is happening again.

Woke up to really bad news again today, when my brother said ‘did you hear about Simoncelli’ I thought he’d done some crazy stunt again, but he came out with ‘he’s no longer with us’ instead…it was unfortunately all too believable. He was a hot-rod, always great to watch, motoGP will never be the same without him.

A future World Champion, a legend in my eyes, exciting to watch. Started to follow Moto GP from last year and I picked one person out of the field to follow and support, that person was Marco. In my eyes, he’s the bike version of Hamilton, very aggressive, quick and a champion in the making. For when I watch Moto GP now, it won’t feel the same with you not there anymore :’(

    RIP Marco Simoncelli

I just can’t believe it. I was no fan of Simoncelli, but I enjoyed his antics and the different dynamic he brought to the sport. Always aggressive, always getting into trouble. As I said I didn’t really like him, especially after wrecking Pedrosa, but he filled a necessary part of the sport, and now, I don’t know what will happen. There are already so few riders, and even fewer ones that make it as exciting as he did. This is really a sad time for racing. R.I.P.

It’s a horrible, horrible situation. Motorsport can be cruel, something which we let slip from our mind until fatal events occur. Let’s just hope that motorsport will see a brighter future and that Formula 1 won’t be the next to lose a champion.

    Ciao Marco. RIP.
