Again, I want to share this with you. :)
Super TC2000 raced at Santa Fe’s streets both on saturday night and sunday afternoon last weekend. The new v8s probed to be way too powerful for this little street track that was okay with the 4 inline, but it’s quite short now.
Onboard Lap:
Still it’s a cool spectacle. The red hot brakes glowing in the dark, sparks everywhere, the fire from the exhausts, the sound of the cars, all together, within inches of the spectators. Even if the race was rubbish, to be there, it’s quite special.
I did bring a couple of surprises, as the championship leader crashed in qualifying and the title is on fire with 2 rounds to go. Pechito Lopez (the one from USF1, driving a privateer Ford Focus) leads by 1.5 points over Matias Rossi (current champion, and winner of the sunday race on a Toyota Corolla) and 2.5 over Nestor Girolami (winner of the night race, on a Peugeot 408).
As a plus point, Fiat and Ford are close to confirm their return as official teams, so that means they’d join Peugeot, Honda, Toyota, Chevrolet and Renault, leaving Volkswagen as the only manufacturer run by a privateer.
In that sense, it seems unbelievable that more and more manufacturers are getting involved. Basically, all of the very well known cars are racing there, a massive difference with other racing series. And even Alan Menu is considering doing a full time season next year. Hope he comes here, it’d be awesome for the championship to have such a strong touring car driver.
