F1.com has been running these interviews where drivers answer the same series of questions. I thought it might be fun to hear F1 Fanatic readers’ answers to the same questions.

Here’s mine, I’ve cut out the ones about “arriving in the paddock” etc…, post your answers below:

Q: Are you the kind of guy to have a ‘Plan-B’?

    Plan B. Then C, and then D…

Q: Who is your dream date?

My wife – we’ve only been married three weeks!

Q: Which film last made you cry?

I think the only film I’ve ever cried at was “United 93″, at the end.

Q: What are you afraid of?

    People I love getting hurt.

Q: What was the last book you read?

    “The Diary of Samuel Pepys”

Q: What is your favourite way to relax?

Curry, beer, friends. Or an evening on the sofa with a good film.

Q: Have you ever – or would you ever – dye your hair?

    No.

Q: Name five things that you hate?

Cheesy music, facial hair, traffic, business jargon, bad food.

Q: Do you have any tattoos or piercings?

    No.

Q: What did your teachers say about you in your school reports?

Nice things generally, though one of them told my parents which girls in their class I’d dated.

Q: Who were your childhood heroes?

    Nigel Mansell.

Q: Do you have any guilty pleasures?

    Vast quantities of chocolate.

    Q: Do you collect anything?

    Autocourse annuals.

Q: What was your worst buy?

A six-month pass to my local swimming pool, just before the season started. Haven’t used it yet.

Q: How do you take your coffee?

Frequently, with milk and no sugar.

Q: Your ideal non-race Sunday morning?

Lazy breakfast with the Sunday papers. Last happened in February.

Q: What was your first vehicle?

Fiat Punto 55. Lasted me six years.

Q: What’s the most embarrassing mistake you’ve ever made?

A few weeks ago while proofing Cari’s article on Patrick Depailler I somehow changed “broken legs” to “broken eyes”. I was mortified – and worse, it looked like Cari’s mistake. Sorry Cari!

Q: What is the best thing you can cook?

Sausages in onion gravy with mash.

Q: When was the last time you were really angry?

The other day when the site went down during first practice at Spa.

Q: Are you the kind of guy to have a ‘Plan-B’?

    I rarely have a plan A

Q: Who is your dream date?

can’t think of way of answering this one without sounding cliched, so I won’t

Q: Which film last made you cry?

I can’t actually remember the last time I cried watching a film. I do though remember my eyes welled up a bit when Leo died in the last series of the West Wing.

Q: What are you afraid of?

Things I’ve given too much thought to

Q: What was the last book you read?

Michael Schumacher: The Edge of Greatness by James Allen

Q: What is your favourite way to relax?

Hhm the F1 answer would be sat with my friends watching the Grand Prix in Edinburgh. But that hasn’t been very relaxing this year. So I’d say an afternoon of cricket in the sunshine with my friends

Q: Have you ever – or would you ever – dye your hair?

When I was about 8 I dyed it green for Halloween, thats about it

Q: Name five things that you hate?

Trolls on internet forums, people lying, speed cameras (and I reserve an especially strong loathing for average speed cameras), cyclists riding 2 or 3 abreast on the roads and people mistaking the Isle of Man for the Isle of Wight or a channel island

Q: Do you have any tattoos or piercings?

    No.

Q: What did your teachers say about you in your school reports?

Despite being reasonably bright I was very opinionated and often far too stubborn

Q: Who were your childhood heroes?

When I was little it was Damon Hill and Joey Dunlop. But didn’t really have heroes untill I was a bit older with Fernando Alonso and John McCain being my choices, making my list of heroes certain to be unique on this forum!

Q: Do you have any guilty pleasures?

Chips cheese and gravy. A speciality of chippies on the Isle of Man

    Q: Do you collect anything?

I keep all the autosport magazines I buy and still have a few F1 Racing magazines from the late 90s/ early 00s

A Samsung phone when I was about 13 I’ve learnt my lesson, its Sony Ericsson all the way now.

Q: How do you take your coffee?

    I prefer tea

Q: Your ideal non-race Sunday morning?

    I’d most likely be sleeping

Q: What was your first vehicle?

2002 VW Polo 1.4, was originaly my grandfather’s and was a brilliant and nippy little car which I absolutely loved. Unfortunately though it ended its life on its roof. Not my finest hour.

Q: What’s the most embarrassing mistake you’ve ever made?

    See above

Q: What is the best thing you can cook?

I don’t think sticking things in the microwave really counts as cooking

Q: When was the last time you were really angry?

Well when we lost a cricket game to my flat mate’s team in an humiliating way I had a propper big sulk, but that’s not quite anger. The European GP this year I was so angry for the first time in about 4 years I changed channel during a GP and missed the end of the race. I could quite easily have thrown something at the TV Di Montezemolo style otherwise.

Q: Who is your dream date?

Robert Kubica. I’d love to talk to him, being my idol and all.

Q: Which film last made you cry?

Marley and Me. I knew the dog had it coming, but I still couldn’t hold a few tears back.

    Q:What are you afraid of?

It may sound girlish but spiders and complete darkness. And any failures that may occur during my karting (Like my fender failure, where the fender dislodged it self and got stuck under my kart, thank god for brakes!)

Q: What was the last book you read?

To kill a Mockingbird, part of my summer reading project. A very boring book.

Q: What is your favourite way to relax?

Put on Rfactor and my favourite GP79 mod and just have a few races.

Q: Have you ever – or would you ever – dye your hair?

I have once, a light brown, and it looked good actually….

Q: Name five things that you hate?

Tuesdays, Homework (typical), Heat, not having a good dinner, and being the only one in the Rotax junior class in karting on the track during practice… it gets lonely out there…

Q: Do you have any tattoos or piercings?

Too young for that, but I do plan to have a few.

Q: What did your teachers say about you in your school reports?

Well, I misbehave a bit and homework is not my favorite thing, so not really positive things in middle school, but in Elementary school, I was the 3rd best kid there and I guess you could call it ‘being praised’.

Q: Your ideal non-race Sunday morning?

Sleep till 10, and then go on F1F to get my daily dose of F1 news.

Q: What was your first vehicle?

Don’t have a car yet, but I guess my Go-Kart counts, in which case a CRG Kalifornia.

Q: What’s the most embarrassing mistake you’ve ever made?

Oh no. Well, last weekend I had karting practice, and I spun right in front of everyone. The engine died out and I couldn’t get it started so they had to red flag the session to tow me off the track. It was horrible!

Q: What is the best thing you can cook?

Scrambled eggs. Yah its pathetic, I know…

Q: When was the last time you were really angry?

Earlier this year. I had a deal with my dad that if I got a’s and b’s on my report card, I could race. But I always didn’t do my homework, and had a c, so I couldn’t race. Finally my dad softened up a bit, and he let me race regardless of grades.
