Tommy: I dont think I’ve ever seen anyone in the British media criticise Vettel, they’re usually too busy bashing/worshipping Hamilton.

Just watched the Vettel part of that show (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBUr6sDYcms&feature=youtu.be). Really nice guy. Intelligent, competative, funny, cunning. I agree with everyone wanting to see him having more of a fight on his hands, but he had been showing that in at least half of the races this year, so all is not lost.

As for the Ferrari 458 vs. McLaren MP4-12C. The Ferrari is ugly, overstylized. And its controls are just ridiculous (blinkers turning with the wheel, meh). The McLaren is a great piece of engineering, smooth looks and nice curves. I like that. Oh, and it is only about 2-3 seconds faster around that Top Gear track, driven by the Stig! Not too bad for a cheap newcomer then!

Although I didn’t like how the 458 looked when it first came out, I’ve grown to it and now i think it looks pretty good
Sure there are more beautiful supercars, but in comparison to the mp4-12c (which, as someone already said, looks like an overpriced lotus or something built by a car enthusiast rather than a company that makes supercars), the ferrari wins hands down
I prefer the technology of the mp4, but…. really it looks too bland and boring

It was a really nice episode, far better than Top Gear’s recent episodes. Sebastian was a great guest and put a smile on my face with his good sense of humor. Last episode was frustrating with the irrelevant comparisons at times and the point deduction on Hammond which really ruined their reputation.

As for Ferrari vs McLaren it would be without a doubt the 458. When driving the Mclaren Clarkson did not mention things I have heard from other journalists and I believe the lap time was not genuine comparing to lap times on other tracks. The fact that Clarkson said that it was “developed” at the Top Gear track raised a lot of suspicion.

Maybe that’s why the laptime is so good, because it was developed at the Top Geat track.
