F1 Fanatic - World Rally Championship
More frustration for Ford after missing that open goal in Portugal – Jari-Matti Latvala has broken his left collarbone while training in Lapland and will miss the Rally of Argentina:
It remains to be seen who will replace him. Any thoughts?
I’ve seen countless times that Ott Tanak has been groomed to one day rally with the Ford works team. If he doesn’t do the rally, then I still expect him to rally for the team in the future as a replacement for Solberg/Latvala/which ever one goes to VW.
I like Latvala, and in fact it’s probably difficult not to like the guy. But if he’s going to be a proper championship contender in the future then he really needs to get his act together and cut out the little mistakes. With Hirvonen leaving Ford I thought this was going to be Latvala’s chance to shine in ‘his own’ team – unfortunately that hasn’t been the case for all of this year so far. His speed isn’t in question, it’s the consistency. And that’s what rallying is all about, surely…
What a shame. He really isn’t having any good fortune at all this season.
I’d say Ostberg. He performed brilliantly in Portugal.
Got to be Ostberg, such a shame for Latvala, I really like him as well :/
It’s gonna be Wilson’s son :P
As for Latvala… I bet he can crash even playing chess. The guy’s been a very unreliable pair of hands lately!!
What a bad year Latvala is having!
If I was Malcolm Wilson, I’d would have to choose Mads Otsberg to replace Latvala, attending to the recent performances.
Looks like Dani Sordo will get the drive:
So that would put Meeke in prime position to take up a Mini drive for Argentina I guess?
Thanks for the info @prisoner-monkeys
It’s official now, by the way http://www.wrc.com/news/sordo-excited-following-fiesta-test/?fid=16523
