There is actually a yellow alert on the whole south of Portugal due to heavy rain. There is rain predicted for the rest of the weekend, with moderated winds.

Blimey, I can see what Hirvonen meant about the stage being littered with cars, some of these off’s look a LONG way down hills and mountains, scary stuff :/.

Haven’t found any shots of Petter’s car but the emergency services have reported to the radio that there is a little river on SS7 that is making hard for the cars to go by. Al-Attiyah has described this rally as “the most difficult in my life.” And he has took part on Dakar!

I must remind that the last time such things occured on the Rally de Portugal we were on 2001 and the rally was still on the north. That was the year when Portugal lost all credit with the FIA. Of course now the rally is very well organised, but my point is: a week before the rally on 2001, a bridge on the Douro river fell, taking the lives of 40 or 50 people. I was 4 years old at that time and that’s one of my first memories. That day is just coming to my mind all the time today.

SS10, the second time through São Brás de Alportel, has been cancelled. Daniel Oliveira is stuck in one of the many little rivers crossing the liaison section between SS9 and SS10.
