The provisional calendar for the 2013 season is now online, courtesy of Touring Car Times. At the moment this is how it’s looking.

    10th March – ITALY (Monza)
    24th March – SPAIN (TBA)
7th April – MOROCCO (Marrakech Street Circuit)
    28th April – SLOVAKIA (Slovakiaring)
    5th May – HUNGARY (Hungaroring)
    19th May – AUSTRIA (Salzburgring)
9th June – RUSSIA (Moscow Raceway)
30th June – PORTUGAL (Circuito da Boavista)
    28th July – BRAZIL (Curitiba)
22nd September – USA (Sonoma Raceway)
    20th October – JAPAN (Suzuka)
    3rd November – CHINA (Shanghai)
17th November – MACAU (Guia Circuit)

It looks very much like this years calendar with Russia added on it. Any attempts to put Argentina back on the calendar appear to have been put to be as well. Once again no races in the UK, Germany or France. The Russian race may have been added to entice Lada into a full programme for next year.

I hope they go somewhere other than Valencia for the Spanish race – the Ricardo Tormo circuit just does not work for touring cars.

Jerez would be good, but they probably want to go to a more major city.

The Valencia street circuit might work alright, though it is a bit too long.

Would the Circuito del Jarama or the Catalunya National Circuit work better for touring car racing? I can’t say I’ve seen any racing on those circuits but it could be worth a try, anything is better than the ‘racing’ Valencia produces.

Monza is pointless for the WTCC too, Imola would be better for them
    why no British round?

    why no British round?

Because the British circuits aren’t interested.

Why is it so imperative that the calendars have British races on them?

I hope this year I can make it for the race at Curitiba, where I happen to live!

I’m still evaluating which round I would go to (if I go to one), I’m still waiting on which Spanish circuit will hold the race. It’s just typical that the nearest race is over 1000 miles by road from where I live!

Here’s the revised 2013 calendar, Morocco has been dropped (no loss there). Round 3 is now the ‘mystery round’, a race in the north of Europe would be appreciated.

    7th April – TBA (TBA)
    28th April – SLOVAKIA (Slovakiaring)
    5th May – HUNGARY (Hungaroring)
    19th May – AUSTRIA (Salzburgring)
9th June – RUSSIA (Moscow Raceway)
30th June – PORTUGAL (Circuito da Boavista)
    21st July – BRAZIL (Curitiba)
15th September – USA (Sonoma Raceway)

The final calendar has been revealed and after Brazil apparently being dropped a few weeks ago, it is on the calendar at the expense of Spain which will not host a race for the first time. The WTCC’s abandoning of Western Europe continues!

Other than that, the Race of Brazil has been moved back a week and the Race of the United States has been moved forward a week while Japan and China have swapped places.

    24th March – ITALY (Monza)
    7th April – MOROCCO (Marrakech)
    28th April – SLOVAKIA (Slovakiaring)
    5th May – HUNGARY (Hungaroring)
    19th May – AUSTRIA (Salzburgring)
9th June – RUSSIA (Moscow Raceway)
30th June – PORTUGAL (Circuito da Boavista)
    28th July – BRAZIL (Curitiba)
8th September – USA (Sonoma Raceway)
    22nd September – JAPAN (Suzuka)
    3rd November – CHINA (Shanghai)
17th November – MACAU (Guia Circuit)

Anybody know if the Maserati trofeo will be running in conjunction as well? They were actually quicker per lap and had MUCH better sound than the touring cars but it was all fun when I saw the series in Sonoma.
(autogp blew em both out of the water for sound and lap times, but were impossible to follow because their numberings are difficult at best to make out and a lot of the paint jobs were too similar)

@robk23 What the hell are you talking about? WTCC races at Valencia were awesome.

Morocco has been dropped (no loss there)

    WTF, man?

Auto GP won’t be going to Brazil or the USA in 2013 in order to cut costs. Most of the circuits don’t have a schedule yet although a few of the European races (what’s left of them) will host some rounds of Auto GP and ETCC.

@joey-zyla Considering the Marrakech Street Circuit is basically a few straights linked with chicanes, the racing there is poor in comparison to most of the other events.

Negotiations with Curitiba were going on right until the last minute although I wish the WTCC would go to Interlagos in the future, it looks like it might actually be a good track for touring cars.

Why is it so imperative that the calendars have British races on them?

I often find travelling to Silverstone/Brands/Donington quicker and cheaper than Brazil/Slovakia/Hungary.

    simple enough answer?

The calendar has changed again as the Race of Brazil has now been removed from the calendar and an extra race slotted in sometime before the Race of the United States.

    7th April – MOROCCO (Marrakech)
    28th April – SLOVAKIA (Slovakiaring)
    5th May – HUNGARY (Hungaroring)
    19th May – AUSTRIA (Salzburgring)
9th June – RUSSIA (Moscow Raceway)
30th June – PORTUGAL (Circuito da Boavista)
    TBA
    TBA
8th September – USA (Sonoma Raceway)
    22nd September – JAPAN (Suzuka)
    3rd November – CHINA (Shanghai)
17th November – MACAU (Guia Circuit)
