GP2 14 minutes agoFrijns was not allowed to restart because he had a puncture? That’s completely ridiculous! Why would they not allow any car to restart anyway, if it can be fixed in time? Truly baffling, especially considering […]

AdrianMorse commented on the post, Ferrari have Mercedes within range as Red Bull lurk 19 hours, 58 minutes ago
Nothing from the long-run data suggests that Mercedes is any worse on the long runs, which is a bit of a surprise, but a pleasant one for me. Were the Mercedes long runs on the soft or the super soft tyre? Another […]

AdrianMorse commented on the post, Rosberg puts Mercedes on top in Monaco 1 day, 5 hours ago
@bascb, Most drivers, including Rosberg, set their fastest time on their first proper outing onto the track, which in Rosberg’s case was about 11 laps long (fast laps alternating with cool-down laps).
On […]

AdrianMorse commented on the post, Hamilton expects Mercedes resurgence in Monaco 1 day, 18 hours ago
What I found a little worrying is that Hamilton only says they are working on their tyre problems, not that they have any idea they found a solution (if indeed it exists, rather than being an inherent problem with […]

AdrianMorse commented on the post, Monaco could be Mercedes’ best chance for victory 2 days, 23 hours ago
Mercedes hold the key to an interesting weekend. If they can lock out the front row and lead the other cars around, this will create a major headache for the strategists on the pit wall. Pitting early to undercut […]

AdrianMorse commented on the post, FIA wades into tyre row with safety ruling 6 days, 8 hours ago
I suppose it’s fair that the tyre compounds are not changed mid-season, although selfishly I am disappointed as I was hoping for a tyre change to improves Mercedes’s fortunes.
What irks me a little bit is that […]

Gary makes some interesting points, but I don’t agree with
But if you look at the data, things are not so different this year than they have been at any time since Pirelli became the sport’s sole supplier in […]

AdrianMorse commented on the post, Honda tipped to announce F1 comeback 1 week, 1 day ago
I think Pic has been performing pretty well so far this season, and Van der Garde finally found his form too in Barcelona, so it would be strange to reward them by side-lining them for Monaco. Also, VdG finished […]

F1 1 week, 2 days agoon both occasions illegal team orders gave one driver the win.
I think it does matter whether or not it is the race leader that moves over, for many of the fans. And anyway, I don’t think anybody outside […]

AdrianMorse commented on the post, 2013 Spanish Grand Prix in Tweets 1 week, 3 days ago
A lot has been made of Hamilton’s “I can’t drive any slower”, but he said the same thing once already, in Valencia 2011, which was shortly followed by “I can’t drive any faster”, if I remember correctly.

I missed this in the broadcast, but why was DiResta being told where to use the DRS at the end of the race? Hadn’t he been using it all weekend already?

I thought Buxton’s commentary of GP2 this weekend was pretty decent, but his blog just irritates me.
Fernando Alonso’s opening stint was mesmerising. He was running quali laps on full fuel.
What race was he […]

@andae23, true, but I have the feeling that the modified hard didn’t work as well as expected, or at least was trickier to get to work than the medium, which actually worked pretty well for most drivers.

@timothykatz, remember they didn’t have the chicane before the final corner in 2004, so those times are a little flattered. I think they put the chicane in for the 2008 season. The race times for the 2008 and 2009 […]

@freelittlebirds, as to Hamilton being slower than Rosberg, I think yesterday Hamilton struggled with the setup of his car. Whether he had a different setup to Rosberg I don’t know, but he just didn’t get the car […]

Few standout drives yesterday. At certain points during the race I thought Guitierrez and Ricciardo were going to finish higher up and if they had, I might have voted for one of them. I was also impressed with […]

AdrianMorse replied to the forum topic How did Button end up ahead of Perez in Spain? in the group
F1 1 week, 4 days agoButton drove a good last stint, and Perez, although initially quicker on his fresher tyres, couldn’t get by. The cameras didn’t show too much of their battle, but I don’t think Perez was ever close enough to try a move.

On Mercedes race pace, I was unpleasantly surprised by how slow they were. I know Mercedes have had this “quick in qualy, hard on tyres” image for the better part of three years now, but I think they were actually […]

Great review Keith, so please excuse my nitpicking:
Sergio Perez had jumped up to second at the start before being passed by Massa.
I suppose he jumped to seventh?
On Alonso’s overtakes on the first […]

I still have no clue what was going on with Hamilton during the race, or on the Mercedes pit wall for that matter. His second stint was the worst. Around lap 22-23 he ended up in the 1m32s, which was slow, but the […]
