Race 07 is ruddy bloody awesome and I’d recommend it to anyone wanting to get into PC sim racing.

@sircoolbeans May I suggest that, when switching at the quickest speed, the edges of the screen lose the tilt-shift fuzz and the track centres to the screen at the best rotation to fit the available space? It’s pretty much the only issue I have with an otherwise great game.

In terms of performance balancing, I think that’s generally more to do with keeping the competitors and manufacturers happy rather than the fans. As well as WEC, it also happens in near enough every GT championship that runs multiple manufacturers. Certainly anything running to GT3 specifications.

Another one not mentioned in the original list is reverse grids.

In the style of the DTM stadium event and the Race of Champions, here are the plans for Brazil’s latest grand prix circuit that I bet would see record attendance figures (record lowest, that is). It might be a bit on the short side, but I think it works quite well.

Wow… those sound great, especially that gear change (do they even have gears?)!

I should think they’ve done that to test how the cars and drivers handle that type of chicane. Because from the street circuit maps that have been released so far, it’s clear there are going to be a lot of them.

The cars certainly do look… slow. I guess that’s not helped by the wide open space Donington has. On a narrow street circuit they’re going to appear to be running faster. Of course technology will only get better, and speeds will become higher I’m sure.

Anyway, here’s mine. Perimeter road with chicanes to take some of the speed out of the various faster corners lined with dangerous trees (plus the other ePrix circuits revealed so far have plenty of seemingly unnecessary chicanes).

Anti-clockwise with the start straight and pitlane along the south edge. Only difference is I’ve used the large paved area in the north east corner for a sort of stadium hairpin section (think Montreal’s Hairpin) surrounded by grandstands.

@zazeems I think that’s the only possible route they could use in reality, especially regarding road width.

I guess having only 1 gimmick means it’s less gimmicky than F1 already.

I used to get autosport every other week in the mid-late nineties and his cartoons were a highlight. Loved how he drew the drivers helmets as their heads, almost like they were all ‘Stigs’. As someone who loved art, I often found myself drawing F1 pictures in his style.

So thank you Jim, you shall be missed by many.

We’ll be starting up a new season over at Really Rubbish Racing fairly soon and we’re making the switch from Forza 4 for GT6, mainly because we’re bored. If anyone wants to join us, you’re more than welcome to.

    Yay! Racing

I’m a big fan of unique stuff in games like this so long as they’re done well, which I’m sure you’re doing @sircoolbeans. I quite often played Grand Prix Manager 2 with fictional team and driver names as it completely removes and predetermined bias associated with the better or worse teams or drivers. You get to craft your own history. I do the same in Football Manager. Its far more fun when you don’t know and have to discover for yourself.

@rjoconnell Marc Gene is driving for ELMS LMP2 leaders Jota Sport at Le Mans this year, as well as being an Audi reserve driver.

I’m ready! going to try and stay awake for the full 24 hours this year (managed 21 last year). There’s going to be a serious fight for the front spots if these http://www.radiolemans.com test day podcast boradcasts I’m listening to are anything to go by. I hope Rebellion can get a grip on their ROne and keep on the tails of the manufacturers. It’s a shame they have no direct competition with this phantom Lotus LMP1 still not appearing.

The new Ligiers in LMP2 look brilliant and I hope Alex Brundle can pilot one to the class victory. Shame Strakka’s new Dome chassis won’t be making an appearance after it was damaged in testing at Spa.

There are an awful lot of GT entries this year too so there’s going to be a lot of action there. Good to see Corvette, Krohn and Dempsey made it across the pond to join in, shame Muscle Milk and Risi turned down their entries, especially Muscle Milk as the LMP2 numbers are down this year.

And the Nismo ZEoD. Can’t wait to see and hear (or not hear) that on track!

An upgrade to Jyllandsringen in Denmark.

@vmaxmuffin No! You leave that track alone! It’s amazingly bonkers good fun on STCC2.
