I wouldn`t head to Abbey. Its a very small GA viewing area with little or no banking and it will be a bun fight to get in to there. Becketts is good vieiwing but no overtaking. Stowe sees action and there is plenty of room down there. After the race there is party with crap music but the drivers come out to say hi.
You really should come along. Yes the gates open at 6am and people start queueing before this for the best spots. If you get there a bit later ( 7am to 8am ) then there is always space at the Vale where the viewing is a little restricted as the slope could be steeper but you will see things and the atmosphere is great down there.
I`ve been in most grandstands on race day, in fact I have booked a stand at Copse this year but we are still getting up early on Sunday to go to the GA banking instead. I`ve found the atmosphere and banter on the banking is better and its also much more confortable in your own chair.
Just had a message from Silverstone on Facebook. Only 1 DRS zone to be used for the british GP. I was under the impression only Monaco and Suzuka were doing that this year.
SIlverstone have had to operate two paddocks for the bikes which is apparently a bad thing but the cars are split in to two paddocks. F1, then GP2 and GP3. Whats the difference?
Richard Phillips of Silverstone claims they cannot afford to build a tunnel or bridge to the new complex for now. Seems like a bit of a disaster for the circuit to me. Although the new wing is mighty impressive the stadium feel of the old layout has been lost as has some of the atmosphere in my opinion.
I just do not understand why people would buy tickets from anywhere other than the official silverstone website. Its all there for you. Interactive grandstand map, camping, park and ride. Take your pick.
For facilities etc Whittlebury is easily the best and they were the only site who stayed open last year even allowing everyone to park next to the tent.
Make the most of friday. Have a good walk around.
On Saturday you are free to move around if you want, no problem but it is busy…approx 90000 in attendance.
Ian, the stage is near the Luffield/Brooklands complex which is now on the outside of the circuit.
Everyone, regardless of the weather take sun block. If the sun doesn`t get you, the wind will.
Hi, I`m Alan and I live in Tewkesbury, England
I`ve been following F1 since 1985 and have been visiting Silverstone since 1987.
I always cheer on the brits but have a soft spot for Williams.
I also admire Alonso. The guy just does not give up.
I have arim from a 1990`s Benetton. I use it as a bin in my garage!
