Alianora La Canta commented on the post, Davidson breaks vertebrae in horror Le Mans crash 11 months, 1 week ago
I thoroughly enjoyed Le Mans, though I will acknowledge it didn’t have the frenetic duelling at the front of the primary categories that last year boasted. I can see why the very F1-orientated Paul Hembrey might […]

Alianora La Canta commented on the post, Ecclestone “confident” Mercedes will sign Concorde 12 months ago
The calendar has gone up 25% in terms of race numbers in 2003. So only getting 9% from that would be unimpressive, as it implies that each race is giving less money now than in 2003.

Alianora La Canta commented on the post, Ecclestone “confident” Mercedes will sign Concorde 12 months ago
Bernie is the negotiator for CVC, and F1 does not race anywhere without Bernie’s permission. If a circuit owner considers the attitude of the negotiator unacceptable, where the money goes following agreement is […]

Alianora La Canta replied to the forum topic Can you tie a championship? in the group
F1 1 year agoPaulgilb, in 1976 the best 7 results from each half of the season were counted (each half having 8 races).
1st half:
Lauda 9+9+6+6+9+9+4 = 52
Hunt 6+9+2+9 = 26
(both dropped a DNF)2nd half, excluding […]

Alianora La Canta replied to the forum topic Can you tie a championship? in the group
F1 1 year agoTo answer the title question more directly, ties are very much possible at the end of a season, though rare in the case of title deciders. This year, if the 4 winners we’ve had so far proceed to win 5 races each, […]

Alianora La Canta replied to the forum topic Can you tie a championship? in the group
F1 1 year agoJoey-Poey, crazy as it may sound, it is theoretically possible for 2 drivers to both get 2nd in the same race. It would be possible if they crossed the line at the exact same moment and the FIA could not separate […]

Congratulations on your exam results! Perhaps Force India could do with you joining their legal team?

Alianora La Canta replied to the forum topic Nico Hulkenberg in the group
F1 1 year agoI’m not sure how to rate Nico’s speed at this point. He’s spent so much of the season so far dogged with bad luck that I’m not sure I’ve seen a representative race from him yet. While drivers getting entire […]

Alianora La Canta commented on the post, F1 handed Bahrain more than just a propaganda victory 1 year ago
One year is a delay when one notes that the original version of the reforms were promised back in 2002 (the 2011 reforms are the second version). It comes across as foot-dragging, especially when paired with […]

Alianora La Canta commented on the post, F1 handed Bahrain more than just a propaganda victory 1 year ago
Not to mention race cancellation and banning from holding future F1 races (as per Jerez in 1997), but the FIA has too much at stake in the Middle East in terms of “growing the sport” to risk demolishing its […]

Alianora La Canta commented on the post, F1 handed Bahrain more than just a propaganda victory 1 year ago
He can have his cheque and eat it now that the race is over. Even if he previously told the Bahrain organisers that “UniF1ed” was OK, there’s probably a clause for using F1 in messages contravening F1′s […]

Hospitality is usually paid for well in advance. It may even have been cheaper this way because they wouldn’t have spent money on things like food that weren’t needed, once it became clear that many people were […]

Alianora La Canta replied to the forum topic Best F1 Season ever? in the group
F1 1 year agoI have very mixed feelings about 2012 (one good race, one average race, one dull race and one that shouldn’t have happened). So far, it feels worse than 2011, which didn’t particularly grab me with excitement […]

Alianora La Canta replied to the forum topic Bahrain Trophies Protest? in the group
F1 1 year, 1 month agoThere’s a section on podium procedure in the Sporting Regulations (Appendix 3), but not all the requirements appear to be in there – I think some of them are verbally briefed before each podium, according to […]

Alianora La Canta commented on the post, Bahrain blocks journalists to keep focus on F1 1 year, 1 month ago
Simple. Bahrain was blocking all journalists not connected with specific, non-controversial (in the government’s eyes) events until this week. The ones who are there now are on a special “F1 Visa”, with other […]

Alianora La Canta commented on the post, The Bahrain Grand Prix: A matter of conscience 1 year, 1 month ago
Syria isn’t breaking the FIA’s regulations (and, obviously, F1 isn’t there) so this would hardly be the forum to complain about Syria. Bahrain has, the FIA is there anyway, so here is the right place to complain […]

Alianora La Canta commented on the post, New Jersey race could be delayed until 2014 – Ecclestone 1 year, 1 month ago
Because the organisers broke the “apolitical” rule and the FIA condoned it. Which means the FIA going to Bahrain is political, whether the FIA accepts that fact or not.

Alianora La Canta commented on the post, New Jersey race could be delayed until 2014 – Ecclestone 1 year, 1 month ago
Simple. Article 1 of the FIA Statutes forbids linking F1 with politics. The organisers, in using the “UniF1ed” ad campaign, linked F1 with politics. Cancelling would be because the organisers broke just about the […]

Alianora La Canta commented on the post, New Jersey race could be delayed until 2014 – Ecclestone 1 year, 1 month ago
Due to the Bahraini organisers linking F1 and politics despite FIA regs prohibiting it, the apolitical stance is to stay away. Going implies the FIA condones linking F1 with politics (at least, by those who have […]
