Awesome! More GP2 racing! Also, have GP3 ever been to Bahrain?
Nope, this is the first time for them.
30th April 2015, 7:48 at 7:48 am #297512AraqielParticipantAgreed, I miss Will Buxton. Not the same without him. Palmer did a good job as co-commentator but the new guy has a long way to go. Might have well have said “Cars are racing! Look!” at the start of race one for all the insight he was able to give on the action at the first few corners.
24th March 2015, 9:50 at 9:50 am #294979AraqielParticipantSo Lotus cuts Ocon and takes on Jorda and Fong as development drivers… money talks is all I can make of that one.
14th February 2015, 11:18 at 11:18 am #292152AraqielParticipantVery interesting interview with Alex Lynn on Autosport – sounds like Ocon was in at DAMS at one point but that fell through for some reason, which is how Lynn got it.
23rd January 2015, 10:57 at 10:57 am #290762AraqielParticipantSo Marciello is switching to Trident… I’m sure I’d heard he was staying with Racing Engineering so that’s something of a surprise. Hopefully the deadwood in the decent cars doesn’t mean talent like this gets stuck with the less-capable machinery. Maybe a RE seat for Ocon then?
25th July 2014, 15:40 at 3:40 pm #268107AraqielParticipantAh yes, that does make more sense.
20th July 2014, 9:22 at 9:22 am #267227AraqielParticipantWhat a performance for Mardenborough this weekend. After Silverstone he’s clearly learnt from that experience, and drove a very patient race yesterday to get the reverse grid pole. So glad it paid off.
19th July 2014, 6:19 at 6:19 am #267058AraqielParticipantMy behavior not incurring into any irregular administrative situation when processing [my case] were fundamental to this decision
If I’m interpreting this right, he’s saying that he’s been keeping his nose out of trouble this year to help his chances of securing the funding. Looking at the difference maybe he should have been made to feel less sure of that funding a couple of years ago, who knows what could have happened…
17th July 2014, 14:07 at 2:07 pm #266812AraqielParticipantIf only Sorensen had replaced De Jong instead of Ellinas, eh?
16th July 2014, 16:44 at 4:44 pm #266728AraqielParticipantReally wasn’t expecting to see Rossi at another team this weekend, but I guess that more or less seals it as to whether he jumped or was pushed. If this effectively means Dillmann replaces Sato though then I’m all for it. Now what can we do about Izawa, Binder and De Jong… Also LOL at the tags on this thread.
16th July 2014, 14:47 at 2:47 pm #266714AraqielParticipantGP2 supersub Tom Dillmann steps in for Rossi at Hockenheim. Should be fun.
Indeed. ^_^
16th July 2014, 11:41 at 11:41 am #266694AraqielParticipantAlex Rossi has parted company with Caterham, and will not be racing for them in GP2 at Hockenheim. The statement from him is rather positive, talking about considerable experience in F1 machinery during his time at Caterham meaning he is now ready for ‘the next step’. While that might seem a little dubious, the mention of Haas in the last lines of the statement is surely more than a small hint at why he feels leaving Caterham now is the thing to do. Fernandes still owns the GP2 team, so the sale of the F1 team shouldn’t affect that in theory.
7th July 2014, 11:50 at 11:50 am #265996AraqielParticipantDe Jong is the son of the team owner IIRC, so he’s in on a technicality. He’s no worse than Binder, I guess, considering the latter’s experience and what should be a decent car.
5th July 2014, 23:38 at 11:38 pm #265689AraqielParticipantMardenborough still needs to find that consistency, it seems. He was far too scrappy on the first lap today, chasing the previous mistake rather than holding on to what he has. In a series where overtaking is so tough, losing multiple places on the first lap is suicide. He just needs to find a comfortable 9/10ths and a way to drive every corner that doesn’t risk losing more time than there is to gain, something most drivers have time to work on in their formative years but not those who start on Playstation with a reset button.
His Le Mans performances do of course show that this is something he can clearly do on a far greater scale and stage than a GP3 race, so it’s just a case of adapting to the unique challenges of single-seater racing.
5th July 2014, 23:30 at 11:30 pm #265688AraqielParticipantYou would assume telemetry would show an engine being down on power, but then it didn’t exactly help Abt last year – not until they started posting the telemetry comparison to Calado online, anyway… Of course the team were on his side there, whereas Hilmer say everything Regalia is claiming has no basis in truth. Regalia also mentioned that his place in the Force India junior program was effectively gone because of the lack of results so far, so I suspect he’s got a contract for the year with funds promised, but the team hasn’t actually received the funds to cover the whole season, and maybe now he feels justified in taking the money somewhere else. Contracts don’t work like that unfortunately for him.
