I thought Toro Rosso had a little bit more sense than to try this.

It can, and probably will get worse – and Toro Rosso is stuck with him for 2018.

Jaime Alguersuari entered F1 at 19, was supposed to be the next great thing and left two years later. Three guesses which team he drove for, and the first two don’t count.

Nobuhara, last I checked, was not eligible for a Superlicence. This would be the big snag in the plan.

I agree that I’d take Kvyat over Massa, but at only 23, he doesn’t meet Martini’s age requirements, so I think that would rule him out. I think 2019 will be a big shuffle on the driver market; should be fun!

At only 23, is this the quickest rise and fall of any Formula One driver!?
Debut at 19, hoisted to one of the best teams the very next year, dropped by that team the following year and dropped completely the […]

Historically, Toro Rosso exists for the primary reason of comparing drivers for Red Bull. We now have Honda thrown into the equation, who may also be making some demands (though I’d argue that they’re in no place […]

So basically the Strolls and Martini rule Williams. Frank, Claire and the lot have no influence on the team whatsoever…

In the round-up: Lance Stroll’s family denied a chance for Robert Kubica to test a Williams at Suzuka as the teams considers possible alternatives to Felipe Massa for 2018.

There’s something fishy about this one. Apparently this is a genuine TV ad for an insurance company featuring David Coulthard which, according to this report, was recently banned for encouraging reckless driving.
That alone is enough to make you wonder if the whole thing was intentional (there’s nothing like a bit of free national newspaper…[Read more]

Last weekend over 200 American football players out of the 1,696 in the league took part in protests during pre-game performances of the US national anthem. The protests began last year when Colin Kaepernick sat down during a pre-game rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner in protest at civil rights abuses against black people in America.
He was given an instruction regarding his gearbox here. But if he was told anything about it on the radio earlier on that wasn’t put in the broadcasts. Perhaps it got overlooked amid the first-corner drama.

It is ridiculous. Of course it’s not confined to junior series – it happened in the WEC at Fuji in 2013. And there’s nothing to stop it happening in F1.

Profit may be £16 million, but that still doesn’t mean they are a “£16 million company”. Profit is just one measure of a company’s performance but it is by no means the only thing that drives how companies are valued.

Correct. They needed to keep BMW in their official name or risk losing their FOM prize money. So the team was officially named “BMW Sauber” and ran Ferrari engines…hence BMW Sauber-Ferrari.
