Once I get back home, I’ll post some experiences and pictures / videos.
1st October 2016, 9:54 at 9:54 am #329470BasCBParticipantI think he might pick up at Penske, replacing Montoya
14th September 2016, 21:34 at 9:34 pm #328352BasCBParticipantI was really enthusiastic about the idea of these kits originally. But the way it was implemented – with the strange tie in to the engine manufacturers – limited the variance we were going to see from the outset.
And, as with all aero things nowadays, it was always going to end up with less overtaking, solutions converging and adding a lot of cost.
I think IndyCar has other things it needs far more than aero kits nowadays. They are now adding some interesting tracks, and I hope that keeping the cost low will help the series get back to high level racing with solid fields of cars.
26th February 2016, 8:45 at 8:45 am #313275BasCBParticipantAs others mention, I think I would keep it around at least for the coming season. First of all, we do not know how the FIA voting will work (FIA website with free voting, FOM login vote/app vote, TV subscribers voting etc), how much it will be a popularity contest.
But more importantly, it might actually help turn the driver of the weekend into more of what it says: The driver that did a good job all weekend. A bit of a “more informed opinion”, because with the driver who messed up on Saturday but working his way up on Sunday winning the FIA vote, we might get a more balanced view on the whole weekend vote.
24th January 2016, 8:11 at 8:11 am #311731BasCBParticipantI got your dare keith and put went through the whole “the good life” thing with sound on. Thank god there are some nice car shots (few years old but whatever) in there to survive.
17th January 2016, 10:38 at 10:38 am #311551BasCBParticipantMakes the driver pages a sort of go-to station to see about discussions involving that driver. I really like it Keith!
6th January 2016, 9:14 at 9:14 am #311121BasCBParticipantNot a bad line up at all, I must say that I am curious to see how Ford matches up with the existing field in GT racing
3rd January 2016, 11:05 at 11:05 am #311017BasCBParticipantI agree with @xwtl that the forums have gotten somewhat less prominent with the latest changes. I think it would bre nice to have them figure more obviously in roundups and maybe on the hope page with “hot topics”
Apart from that, I enjoy evey time I see a new feature or line of articles, inlcuding the lovely weekend wrap ups and off course the reviews and top 10s and statistics ones.
Would be great to see a return of the tech articles.
As for news, I think its fully enough to cover the news as you do so far. Its good to have it here if its mostly based on team press info, because here we can discuss them. I would love to see you get back into interviews again, I really enjoy the ones you did (shame we don’t get those McLaren regular press phone ins anymore, guess Ron is not into that.)
28th August 2015, 16:00 at 4:00 pm #303904BasCBParticipantI must say that when I first read about it, I though that it could have easily been harder on Schneider and taken more points from Audi, like Keith mentions. The fact that Audi is one of only three manufacturers surely influenced the penalty, but that does not make it fairer, just inevitable that it cannot be punished more, to avoid the series breaking down.
The act was dangerous and completely unsporting. I think Ulrich should really now announce that he sees it as his own moral failing and that he has asked the Audi board to accept his resignation, because having someone who would even consider this thought leading a proud racing heritage like Audi Sport just feels wrong.
3rd August 2015, 6:32 at 6:32 am #302833BasCBParticipantHm, I must say that it took me some effort to actually notice the numbers on it. Off course part of that is because of watching from on board cameras and part because its something new.
Then again, it certainly doesn’t hurt!
22nd July 2015, 15:05 at 3:05 pm #302201BasCBParticipantAnd then we wonder why we get “no comment” type reactions on questions. Boo Indycar. We saw this rule misused in F1 too often under Max Mosley, certainly not looking forward to seeing that happen in the US.
28th February 2015, 12:24 at 12:24 pm #293202BasCBParticipantHm, I guess its nice watching the scantily clad women in the video for the middle aged men that chose this (Agag etc), but its really not doing any good for the Formula E series IMO.
The music misses a gripping theme melody or beat, the text is completely forgettable and I must say that the imagery really isn’t anything the sport should be proud of. Maybe they saw “dangerous” and thought they’d have something made to look a bit like it but on the cheap? Don’t know, but I really hope not to see this one again.
26th January 2015, 13:51 at 1:51 pm #290814BasCBParticipantHm, about the coverage in the Czech Republic (let me add/update from what @Thaischumi and @pH provided earlier), this also goes for Slowakia as far as I know.
From the 2015 season onwards free to air Nova and its pay TV sister channel will not show F1 anymore, ending FtA F1 coverage on Czech TV (and Slowak TV). The rights have been bought by Sport TV with channels Sport1/Sport2 (3 year contract).
Also included in the planned coverage is supposed to be coverage of GP2/GP3.
I must say that I haven’t been able to find how much it costs, and not even whether its just on offer through cable/satelite and O2digitalTV. I will update if I find anything about that.
Ok, so O2TV currently offer internet TV for 798 CZK/month – cca. 346 EUR/yr (or 299 (cca. 130 EUR/yr) if you already have internet from O2) and they offer you a choice of two “packages” included (choices are HBO, Sport, style, documentaries, children, …) presumably for new customers. As far as I know (haven’t looked at it now, but considered it a year or so back) you get a minimum of 24 months contract.
O2 also offer O2 to Go for mobile devices, but I am not sure F1 is included for those in any package. Not sure how / where to order it for Sattelite.
3rd July 2014, 15:50 at 3:50 pm #265235BasCBParticipantNo prizes for who I voted for
Didn’t know you could vote for Montoya too! :-P
3rd July 2014, 9:03 at 9:03 am #265188BasCBParticipantEspecially as the infringements are with “fuel tank capacity” that might really have been critical in allowing them to win. Not a good penalty.
On a different not, why does it take almost a week? Here we were complaining why it took the stewards until hours after the race to decide Ricciardo was disqualified for Australia, and this is 4 days after the weekend, 5 days since the race was won.
