Lap time roughly 1:32, which is faster than Formula Ford, and as fast as Formula 4. The car looks surprisingly drivable, no massive corrections needed.

Lucas di Grassi using full power in a Formula E car for the first time at the recent Donington Park test.
Surprisingly noisy – though only in terms of the wind noise!

Interesting question that I brought up during the Formula Renault 3.5 coverage (which Keith read out), will we see any drivers come up from Formula Renault 2.0/3.5 into Formula E, like we have seen with Daniel Abt from GP2?

Watchng that trial start was definitely weird. I felt like I was waiting for a rise in revs and never got it. Then Chandhok’s bolts forward and it kind of got me.
For sure the series is a bit different but I am very interested at this point. If anything I am very glad that the talent in the series is strong.

So today they went a lot faster, largely due to yesterday’s tire chicane after the old hairpin being removed.
Lucas di Grassi managed 1m31.973s with the top 14 within 2.1s which is pretty good. But before we have a true reference point, can someone confirm if they were on the National Circuit (I’d imagine so) or using the full GP layout?

Steven replied to the topic Formula E launches Fanboost: Will you vote? in the forum Formula E 2 weeks, 4 days ago
I propose for F1, they adapt the voting idea and have a list of gimmicks that fans can vote out of the sport. Do you vote to get rid of DRS? Do you vote for proper tyres? Do you vote to get rid of double points?
The saddest part is that removing even one of those still leaves the other two as major, unresolved issues.

On the practice start engine, what is the sound that sounds like when you start a road car with an internal combustion engine?

Wow… those sound great, especially that gear change (do they even have gears?)!

I don’t know what you are expecting from a bunch of electric cars, but I think they are awesome. Why? If you are into cars you won’t go watch a category like this because of the sound. It is obvious they are going to sound like giant Traxxas cars. What is really exciting me is the level of racing these things can produce. The mix of young and old…[Read more]

There’s always one…
Mega start by number 5 though, I think that’s Chandhok.

No prizes for who I voted for
Didn’t know you could vote for Montoya too! :P

I should think they’ve done that to test how the cars and drivers handle that type of chicane. Because from the street circuit maps that have been released so far, it’s clear there are going to be a lot of them.
The cars certainly do look… slow. I guess that’s not helped by the wide open space Donington has. On a narrow street…[Read more]

Another point on the lap times. I wonder if this has been done for any reason on than stopping people comparing their lap times with any other category?
If the lap times from @FIAformulaE look a little uninspiring today, it's worth taking this into account! pic.twitter.com/vEPb35a4Oa

They certainly don’t make hardly any sound on those clips! i’m heading a long next week as thought they might turn it up to 11 after the first test at least (well maybe to 78, perhaps only 11 in August).
Are they going to be playing music whilst they race?
