I completely agree. Barcelona is notable in that we have had a similar situation every year. This year wasn’t out of the ordinary as Red Bull’s side are saying.

Max Jacobson commented on the post, Lotus confirm Allison to be replaced by Chester 2 weeks, 1 day ago
@bleeps_and_tweaks that’s why they are second best, not the best! Red Bull undoubtably trumped everyone, not just McLaren, in 2010/11 and were second best in 2009/12 – they are looking to be at the top of the pile […]

Max Jacobson commented on the post, Lotus confirm Allison to be replaced by Chester 2 weeks, 2 days ago
@bleeps_and_tweaks agreed with @optimaximal – if anything I think Lotus’ weakness has been precisely that: aero! They were one of the last developers of the Coanda exhaust and it makes frequent mention that the […]

@bleeps_and_tweaks +1 on everything you said – my sentiment exactly! If DRS isn’t necessary, don’t use it! Places where it isn’t necessary include the longest straight in Formula 1.

Prisoner Monkeys commented on the post, New team radio reveals Vettel’s penalty protests 4 months, 2 weeks ago
All team radio is supplied with a delay in order to remove the risk of swearing on the live feed, so delays via replays can’t really be an excuse. Plus, the parts of the race we’re talking […]

@bleeps_and_tweaks – They often show replay of the same incident that the team radio is about, so that viewers know what they’re talking about. Broadcasting team radio material of more than one driver on an […]

@bleeps_and_tweaks I don’t like it either. Some of the pictures are cool, you know, the hotel in the background with all the lights and colours. But it’s not a pretty thing, really.

Max Jacobson commented on the post, McLaren lock out front row as Ferrari challenge falters 8 months, 2 weeks ago
@bleeps_and_tweaks – indeed, it will be a much harder task than that of Spa: their pack of top speed will really hurt them as it’s unlikely he’ll be able to makeup the difference through the various chicanes, as […]

@bleeps_and_tweaks Yeah, it certainly looks much better for McLaren now. It will be interesting to see them battle Red Bull at the Hungaroring, a circuit which will favour the RB8 more I would think.

@bleeps_and_tweaks @electrolite as I said above, there is very little aero effect. Just a local high pressure zone followed by a local low, and a couple of weak vortices.

I had a great time at the race. Although it was also definitely a learning experience (my first grand prix)!
I was supporting Vettel (shocking!) and was therefore was a lone person in Red Bull gear lost in a sea of orange McLaren sportswear. ;-) Nah, not entirely alone, but the number of orange caps out there was pretty striking. I will say that…[Read more]
I forgot to mention one of my favorite parts of the weekend: being let out onto the circuit after the race! It was so crowded along the fence in front of the McLaren and Red Bull garages that you could barely see anything (or we couldn’t, anyway), but it turns out that had something to do with Vettel handing out cans of Red Bull through the…[Read more]
This was my third time to Silverstone.
As always i went alone and camped at the woodlands camp site.
I took the train from London to Northampton and then the bus to Silverstone followed by a walk to the camp site. I had a 3 day ticket for Stowe C with Roving access on Friday and Saturday.
Arrived on Thursday afternoon, with the sun shinning and…[Read more]

I had a great weekend. 4th time seeing the british gp & my first time camping (what a year to start!! lol) I went by myself. (So if anyone saw a young woman in a JB hap & high-vis yellow coat walking around by herself… well that was meee :)
I didn’t have many issues over the weekend but that might be as I went via public transport (so didn’t…[Read more]
This is my first Grand Prix, I was enthusiastic even with the weather looking bad from the start!
We arrived at Campingf1 on Thursday, and soon took our bikes to have a cycle round Silverstone, to firstly be amazed and rather scared upon the size of the circuit, it had to big, but I did not expect it to be that big! Thursday was a beautiful day,…[Read more]

I was only able to attend for the ill fated Friday practice sessions. The journey down was a doddle, but once I reached the A43 it was obvious there were serious problems at the circuit or car parks judging by the sheer volume of traffic waiting to enter. Unfortunately this meant I missed all of…[Read more]
I was sitting in Club A on sunday and had a good view, I could see 2 big screens and the podium at a distance. It was my first GP and I really hope not my last as I think I caught the bug!

Silverstone was my first ever GP and I was fortunate enough to be given VIP passes, courtesy of Lotus and Total. I had done a cover design for a French magazine at the start of the season (for free) and Total were one of the main sponsors. I guess it was their way of saying thanks. :)

This was my first Grand Prix and despite all the mud, the rain and everything else the weather threw at us I absolutely loved it. This was my first Grand Prix like a few others here. I went with my dad, staying in Northampton, and taking a bus at 7 every morning. Someone told the bus driver to take a different route on Friday morning, turns out we had missed the infamous 6-hour traffic jam! By the sounds of it @f1vick was on the same bus as me!
Friday was spent at Woodcote…[Read more]
