I do believe if Bernie was told by the UN or by the British parliament that he was not allowed to hold the race in Russia that he would pocket whatever fees that the organisers have already given him and cancel the event. It would give Bernie the perfect out clause. However he wont cancel the race based on sentiment alone, Bahrain has already set…[Read more]
Agreed.. and if there was a fourth, then possibly Raikkonen by Grosjean, as we saw in 2013.
@kingshark Well, they both did a FP1 year with Force India.. so it depends on how they stacked up against their team-mates in those years?
What about after those three? I would bet on Kvyat, Marciello and Verstappen.. there’s too many to pick from!

Well, I’m all in favour of cancelling the race, but I just don’t see it happen – unless the sanctions against Russia suddenly start getting more severe.
Realistically, if some form of protest would materialise, it would have to come from high up. The smaller parties, sich as the teams, or the sponsors, will not have the balls to really do…[Read more]

Ricciardo for me. There was never any doubt over his qualifying speed, but there always remained a few question marks over his race pace. This year has hit the nail on the head for me, the boy can race.

It is hypocritical to just single out Russia as all the countries have major human rights issues- literally every single one of them. I’m not saying that this discussion isn’t worth having as I actually think we should examine F1 and human rights issue more closely but there’s not really an argument for cancelling Russia that doesn’t apply to many…[Read more]

I dont really think anyone has improved a lot over last year. Perez is getting better results but I think this car probably suits him better (quite similar to his old Sauber), and I’m still not convinced he’s gotten over his over-aggressive racing. I think Maldonado is a better driver than Massa so that would explain Bottas performing better…[Read more]

Valtteri Bottas is really doing well compared to last year, so I’m going with him. But I also think Rosberg has improved, Ricciardo and Perez too.

I suppose what you mean is that Bottas could well have been as good as he is now last year. It could have just been the williams he had last year that was letting him down a bit.
I think Perez is getting better than he was last year and he did very well to finnish 3rd in Bahrain.
1) Rosberg – He is in the fastest car there is and he doesn’t seem to be making the few small mistakes that Hamilton is this season.
2) Bottas – Compared to last year, Bottas is finnishing much higher up and in the last 3 races, ending up 3rd in Austria, 2nd in Britain and 2nd in Germany.
3) Hamilton – He still is doing very well considering how…[Read more]

I think Perez has had a big improvement in form. The drivers you listed earlier however, may have always been driving like that but only now people are starting to notice.
1. Ricciardo – This year’s standout performer. When he was signed for Red Bull last year, everyone seemed to be whining about how Red Bull had only hired him to be a whipping boy for Vettel, and that they should’ve employed Raikkonen. Ricciardo has silenced his critics perfectly.
2. Alonso – As good as ever. When you consider that there are at…[Read more]
1) Alonso – has to fight for every position and hasn’t put a wheel wrong yet. Contrast to Raikkonen just makes the car look worse and him look even better.
2) Ricciardo – has surprised almost everyone with his performances this season. The qualifying pace isn’t that surprising, but also race pace and wheel to wheel he has been exceptional.
Myself, as well as many other people I spoke too won’t return to any races next year because of the lack of excitement/atmosphere with the new engines. On top of that I won’t pay 500$ Canadian for grandstand tickets, when I have lost all my excitement at the track. Hearing touring car sounding engines is not my idea of aural excitement.
I have…[Read more]

I do not know if the Russian GP should be dropped but everyone should stop pretending that “sports and politics do not mix” and openly talk about violations of human rights in Russia and the role of Russia in the unrest in Ukraine and MH17 plane crash.
Journalists should ask uneasy questions and drivers should demonstrate their stance as well.…[Read more]
It is true that the new F1 engines have become less loud, that you do not need earplugs anymore and that GP2 is now louder than F1. However, they are still louder than the person next to you, the crowd and the commentators. I do not think the new sound (at Hockenheimring) was particularly “interesting” but I do not think that F1 has lost much…[Read more]
Same as above
Vettel – Kvyat/Ricciardo
Alonso – Bianchi/Hulkenberg
Hamilton – Bottas/Magnussen
I add kevin cos he was showing his raw pace some times but its a bit fluctuating more than other rookies , when he can maintain his pace consistently and get a better car i feel he can be easily replaced for lewis along with Bottas
Globo works like this: “there is a brazilian winner we put a lot of money in it, otherwise forget it”. And this happens with every kind of sport. So they produce a crowd that only like to see brazilian being successful, not caring for the sport itself. It’s ludicrous and as Globo is a giant that runs and pays for almost every sport event, this…[Read more]
Checking the headline I got it wrong (bit of sensationalism from me) but still anyway a serious matter because the significance of F1 for the Brazilians and viceversa is huge.
About the TV rights, the big thing here has been that Mediapro brought the TV rights of F1 in Latin America (except Brazil) on march. The contract runs from 2015 until 2019.
