In a little over a week, we folks over at http://www.reallyrubbishracing.co.uk will be starting our next Gran Turismo 6 championship, the Chevrolet Corvette Heritage Trophy, racing all seven generations of Corvette, spanning the last 60 years – http://www.reallyrubbishracing.co.uk/index.php?title=Chevrolet_Corvette_Heritage_Trophy
If you still play GT6 and fancy some fair, well-organised championship racing, please feel free to join us.
Sorry for the shameless plug – particularly in light of a similar shameless plug just two posts up! :D7th October 2014, 10:02 at 10:02 am #277407
Ha, I’d say that’s good to hear but I’m having my worst season yet in that championship!
That series is running for another five weeks so if you do end up getting Race 07, feel free to come and join us. :)6th October 2014, 11:01 at 11:01 am #277319
I’d definitely recommend Race 07. Whilst it might look a bit dated compared to the latest sims, the handling model is good and makes for brilliant multiplayer racing. It’s cheap and runs on pretty much anything – I’m using a four year i3 laptop with onboard graphics, so if you have a system with anything that resembles a graphics card, you’ll probably be able to max out the settings.
Like Ratboy. I race at http://www.reallyrubbishracing.co.uk where our PC racing is based on this game. I’d highly recommend checking us out if you’re getting into Race 07. We also have a Youtube channel that fully covers our Race 07 events, if you want to see what we’re all about – http://www.youtube.com/user/ReallyRubbishRacing19th September 2014, 14:07 at 2:07 pm #275112
Somebody that cares about and respects:
– the sport
– the fans
– the teams
It’s not a lot to ask, really.19th September 2014, 12:29 at 12:29 pm #275066
I know people like to talk about how much Bernie has done to help the sport ‘grow into what it is today’ but for me, that’s completely negated by how much he’s now doing to drive the sport into the ground.
A good promoter does not constantly talk his product down. The old ‘any press is good press’ adage does not always ring true. The audience is too well-informed these days for such rubbish.
A good promoter does not try to break into new markets by charging circuit owners such ridiculous (and escalating) fees that ticket prices need to be higher than the local population can realistically afford.
A good promoter does not alienate the existing consumers (die hard fans) by forcing universally condemned rule changes on them in a desperate bid to draw in new fans.
A good promoter does not create a financial structure that leaves a significant portion of the sport’s participants on the verge on ruin, whilst the participants supported by global corporations grow ever more secure and the majority of the income that could benefit everybody (and increase competition) flows into the accounts of capital investors that care nothing for the sport. Worse still, Bernie’s response to the struggling teams is ‘who cares? let the richest teams fill the gaps’. I’m sure the families of those working for the teams that are driven out will be thrilled with that solution.
As far as making money goes, Bernie is a genius. But that’s all it’s about. He’s not a Formula 1 fan. The sport is just a cash cow to be milked hard and abused. As much as I don’t like the uncertainty about what comes next, I for one cannot wait to see him leave.21st February 2012, 13:55 at 1:55 pm #192850
Tried to blast by him when he wasn’t expecting it and it just about worked
@pjtierney lol, so after surviving numerous DRS attacks on the same straight and having you right behind me the whole lap, I wasn’t expecting you to make a move? :P
Twas a great scrap though, really, really enjoyed it. The fact that we ended up recreating a famous real life moment was the icing on the cake.1st February 2012, 20:25 at 8:25 pm #191602
A word of warning: ReallyRubbishRacing will take over your life. And you will love it.31st January 2012, 19:52 at 7:52 pm #185838
Great video @magnificent-geoffrey , some fantastic restraint there too :)
I can’t believe how little lag you get racing guys in Australia. 1:09s too, amazing times :O6th January 2012, 12:43 at 12:43 pm #188395
It always surprises me that when talking about Nico’s achievements, his dominant performances in A1GP (at 19 years old) are completely forgotten about. Granted the talent pool might not have been as deep as other junior categories, but his racecraft, consistency and wet weather skills were very impressive.
I think he’s definitely got potential. People seem inclined to claim folk are reading too much into one pole, but thats pretty dismissive of the average F1 fan’s intelligence.23rd December 2011, 12:20 at 12:20 pm #187133
I’m really hoping GP2 turns up on Sky Sports next year after the way it was marginalised by Eurosport.19th December 2011, 12:19 at 12:19 pm #187829
“There was no intention at all to be disrespectful to @magnificent-geoffrey “
The trouble is, the original post:
a) Suggests that other series already running are not welcoming and too strict
b) Invites a list of existing Collantine Cup drivers specifically. Minus Mag of course.
The entire thing is disrespectful.
If you want to set up a series with a different time slot, fine, good luck to you. But don’t treat it as a contest between series.
Just my tuppence worth.10th October 2011, 20:36 at 8:36 pm #170965
There’s always room @tommothfc, as not everybody can make it every single week.
Plus we have special events occasionally, so even those who aren’t full time in the main series can compete for overall glory in certain competitions.
Either way, its a great community to be part of. //endplug9th October 2011, 17:43 at 5:43 pm #170963
If you have XBL and have not tried the Forza 4 demo yet, download right now – its fantastic.
I really like the new simulation handling, you can really feel the weight of the car and you know exactly how its behaving – even with a controller.
The new ‘Rivals’ mode is really addictive too, though I can’t seem to topple @ajokay‘s Zonda time…
I’ve got this Friday booked off work. Forza 4 and Korea Free Practice – its going to be a gooood day.
