It was pretty much an identical move to the one Coulthard did to Schumacher in 1999.

Sergio Perez missed the 2011 Canadian Grand Prix as a result of his big crash in the previous race at Monaco.

My biggest problem with elimination qualifying is that it doesn’t work in the Pirelli-era of F1. The tyres go off faster than ice lollies on a hot day, and you won’t have time to just bolt on another set of tyres and go for a faster time, you have to stay out and make the best out of a bad job. In the 2010 Bridgestone era, it wouldn’t be that bad, but still the worst qualifying format.

Elimination only works in Burnout 3, and they’re my least favourite races to do.

I’m helplessly retro when it comes to racing games. I’ve just picked up GT4 for the first time in a while, realised I hadn’t done 100%, so I’m on that at the moment. But I’ll still play PS1 games a lot, V-Rally 2 is by far my favourite racing game followed by F1 97 and the early Wipeout games. Sometimes I’ll play on Lotus Turbo Challenge 2 on my Dad’s old Amiga.

In terms of modern racing games, it’s less of a racing game and more of a time trial but I enjoy playing Trackmania for the PC. I love the whole customisation features in a video game and there’s a lot that you can do in TM. For those that want to give it a try, then go for TMNations first.

Thierry Boutsen had a solid run at Williams, then moved to a backmarking Ligier team in 1991 which pretty much spelled the end of his run in F1.

Kubica’s fightback through the field in the latter stages in the 2010 race was awesome, overtaking a car a lap on a circuit that’s difficult to overtake on at the best of times.

We should all start a kickstarter project to bring back the old version of Hockenheim ;)

Romain Grosjean’s most notable F1 crash has probably been his race banning one at Spa 2012 but Brazil in the same year was probably a worse impact.

I wonder if none of them gave a proper answer because they didn’t want to mention the 6th Brit in the field in the form of Eddie Irvine ;)

Brundle probably rates highest in my books, could have quite easily won a few races – he is often regarded as the toughest of Schumacher’s teammates.

I think the new engines have lessened the DRS effect quite dramatically. With the old V8s, the cars hit the top speeds a lot quicker with the DRS open and half way down the straight, the cars hit the terminal velocity. With the new engines, the cars are still accelerating to the top speed just as they arrive at the braking zone. Somehow, it’s lessened the DRS effect. If the engines are more powerful this year, then the DRS could be lessened even more

    For 2003

“What if Raikkonen’s engine hadn’t blown up at the Nurburgring and had gone on to win that race?”

    For 1999

“What if Heinz-Harald Frentzen’s car didn’t pack up whilst leading at the Nurburgring? And at the same race, what if Ferrari hadn’t botched Irvine’s pit-stop?”
