    @brum55 – I think this is an interesting point you raise. In 2012 (MSC’s most competitive Merc season), ROS had an average starting grid position of 9.4 and MSC 9.65, basically identical. And when you remove grid […]

    If Massa is to win again, surely this is his best shot.

    @brum55 – You’re missing out on one aspect: Red Bull HAS a motor racing pedigree, and had one before getting involved in F1. They established themselves as motor-racing supporters and key players through V8 […]

    @brum55 In a perfect world, all of the teams would be owned by people or companies with wholesome motorsport-relevant reasons for owning them. But it’s not perfect, and the money to run many of them has to come […]

    @brum55 – So how about back in the day when more than half the cars in the field were sponsored by tobacco companies? Does that make McLaren or Ferrari or Williams or whoever else less worthy of the titles they’ve […]

    @brum55 – well explain how Massa is starting 2 positions ahead of his teammate in equal machinery.

    Thanks again for a very well judged COTD!

    @brum55

    I think the problem is everything is so absolute. It wasn’t the best drive of all time. But it wasn’t all down to luck either.

    Great point.

    @brum55

    What about the races where he had the fastest car and did not win?
    He should have won Silverstone. Even Massa (yes, Massa) was doing faster lap times than Alonso at the end of the race. Whether it was […]

    @brum55 but the faster car has the lowest top speed of all so no motorway overtaking.

    raymondu999 commented on the post, Vettel wins in India but Alonso limits the damage 6 months, 4 weeks ago

    @brum55 it is – but Hockenheim’s hairpin is so tight and narrow that it’s easy to defend. If you have a motorway style pass then it’s difficult to defend in Hockenheim – but if you need to do it under braking it’s difficult.

    raymondu999 commented on the post, Vettel wins in India but Alonso limits the damage 6 months, 4 weeks ago

    @brum55 To be fair though – Alonso was the fastest car that didn’t bin it, in both Malaysia and Valencia. Once Grosjean and Vettel died in Valencia then Alonso’s car took on the title of “fastest car.” Kimi was […]

    David-A commented on the post, Vettel takes championship lead with hat-trick of wins 7 months, 1 week ago

    @brum55 – Only 2011 was a “cruise” (cruise meaning destroy the field). 2010 and 2012 were close run things. I agree with @palle , that anything can happen, Alonso can regain mid-season form and take the title still.

    Max Jacobson commented on the post, Vettel’s Suzuka masterclass as Alonso hits trouble 7 months, 2 weeks ago

    @brum55 , @leotef – I know, Maldonado does seem to have made a genuine improvement recently. The same can’t be said for Grosjean though. They both have pace, it’s a shame one of theirs is going to waste.

    @brum55 – Vettel traditionally runs very well at Suzuka, I wouldn’t bet against him beating Alonso.

    @brum55 I’d call that a mistake rather than misfortune.

    That’s not what @brum55 was implicating. Besides it was raining in Malaysia and in Europe there were lucky safety car, Hamilton had trouble on pits and both Vettel and Grosjean had a mechanic failure.
