Just discovered my new favourite commentary duo: Ben Edwards and Karun Chandhok who did the Friday night practice from Bahrain.
Shame there weren’t any cameras looking back at the drivers’ faces – that’s what night racing’s all about, as anyone would have seen who watched the MotoGP from Qatar, with the riders’ eyes like dinner plates.
But where’s Tony Dodgins on here?!

It’s a handsome car, and a great livery from the side – looks like it’s doing 150+ standing still. From the front it looks red and black, like an Audi or Porsche or Rebellion…duh. I guess we need a Renault LMP1 team, to add a bit of colour.
I’m pleased to see the red and white again – that goes right back through F1 to the previous Toyota sportscars and rally teams. I guess blue is German for green so it kind of fitted the Hybrid marketing, but it never really said Toyota to me.
The yowling V8s sounded wonderful, but I guess the turbos will be a bit quieter now, so as you suggest the best-sounding cars in a 2016 WEC race may well be the GTE Astons and Ferraris.17th March 2016, 21:12 at 9:12 pm #315490

I was hoping Jeremy Paxman would present it…not seen anything of him on 4 since the election last May. Imagine the interviews with team principals, or the Commercial Rights Holder.
Any amount of Zanardi is time well spent, I feel pretty much the same about Karun Chandhok, and they’ve done well to find an English-speaking driver with experience of the current generation of cars, in Susie Wolff.1st December 2015, 16:28 at 4:28 pm #309934

Looks like a McLaren Honda. I hope it doesn’t go like one…
I’ll miss the third cars in 2016 – it always added an extra dimension to see what unfamiliar drivers from F1, GTE and IMSA could do with those cars, at Spa as well as Le Mans.

@debaser91 Haha, I can’t get away with howlers like that among F1 Fanatics! I did mean Dallas – knew it was a street race, and I remember Nigel Roebuck mentioned the early Honda turbo and its all-or-nothing power delivery. The ’83 car was just underpowered I guess, not especially bad – and Rosberg’s Monaco win was all about choosing slick tyres on a drying track, and then disappearing off.11th August 2015, 13:48 at 1:48 pm #303108
Couple of one-off winners worth mentioning.
Jenson Button’s Honda in 2006, not a disaster but it needed a wet race to be a winner, and was nothing like as good as their 2004 car.
And the 1984 Williams-Honda. Evil handling and turbo lag, not the ideal combination for Monaco… not really my suggestion – I just remember Nigel Roebuck picked it when asked this question around the time Fisichella won in his Jordan.

The 2003 Brazilian Grand Prix deserves a mention: only 2 drivers (3rd-placed Alonso was in the medical centre) and they were in the wrong positions! They swapped trophies at the next race…
