He’ll fit right in at Ferrari – he looks just like Alonso!19th November 2014, 13:23 at 1:23 pm #286103
(To Fernando) What would you like to introduce in F1 that you saw in your visit to the 6 Hours of Bahrain and tour of WEC Race Control?
(To Nico and Lewis) On Sunday one of you will forever become “the man who won the World Championship with double points”. What will that mean to you?25th October 2014, 21:21 at 9:21 pm #280304
Were Marussia saving mileage, big time, on engines and other parts in Sochi then?
That would be an effect of the gesture with Bianchi’s car, and Chilton’s mysterious retirement.
And I thought this was an interesting theory. But if it’s true, why aren’t Sauber and Lotus missing the last 3?
With Caterham out of the mix, 10th at worst is guaranteed for Marussia. Makes sense to miss final 3 and focus resources on 2015.

They’ll have to kick Alonso out at the end of 2015 to make way for him!
So presumably Sainz is going…somewhere.18th October 2014, 14:30 at 2:30 pm #279457
Almost a Senna-Mansell finish! Not sure Jerez is right for these cars, it seemed to require a howler from the driver in front to create an opportunity. With more shove out of the corners and comedy tyres, F1 cars might race better round there.17th October 2014, 8:44 at 8:44 am #279330
No front wings.
Finnish Grand Prix.
Big numbers on the cars.
Laurel wreaths and more local variety post-race, not just a Podium Procedure. Definitely steal the camel-rides to the podium from the Dubai 24h!
Proper racing tyres. Durable, slideable, fatter at the back, safe operating range (no blankets, usable when cold). Still wreck them if you Nico them at the first corner though!
Simple tyre rules. Free use through the weekend of limited sets and compounds. Allow changing just fronts or rears, mixed sets. Maybe an extra set of qualifying tyres to reward the top ten.
Third cars and test drivers must enter the race, at least attempt to qualify. But limited appearances (maybe 2 per year per team), with drivers and races nominated before each quarter-season.
Track Limits…there must be some way to solve this problem – maybe cars must rejoin the track on the speed limiter.
Redesign lots of piddling slow corners that contribute nothing to the racing. For example, I’m sure there’s a decent race track hiding in Abu Dhabi. Fast sweeps, hairpin, quick kink between the two straights, bypass all the slow rubbish at the end of the lap.
Engines – bit of flexibility here – allow monster hybrid power, also non-turbo multi-cylinders, but with fuel-flow limits so not everybody uses them. A couple of really noisy cars out there would be great.
Press & media passes issued on grounds of quality, and GMM and their parasites hounded out of business. F1’s done “any publicity is good publicity” for way too long.
TV? Free-to-air races, subscribe (on official website or TV) to see qualifying, practice, paddock notebooks, interviews and stuff. Single broadcaster for each country, instead of current mess in UK, with talented or competent presenters too thinly-spread between BBC & Sky.14th October 2014, 9:08 at 9:08 am #278718

Pathetic and lazy by Sky. Call yourself a premium service?
No doubt, out of respect of course, they filled the airtime with shouty gambling ads and endless trailers for themselves.24th September 2014, 8:19 at 8:19 am #275824
Causing A Public Nuisance. Hmmm, that’s not gonna need a $100 million bribe. But at least he’s being brought to some kind of justice.
It’s unfortunate that, of all people, the commentator couldn’t identify his car, calling it a Golf…18th September 2014, 17:39 at 5:39 pm #274946
Is that a number 1 on the rear wing? That’s a bit optimistic.
Or do the designers know something we don’t?9th September 2014, 20:09 at 8:09 pm #274193
That’s nuts. Did they win the sidecar class?30th August 2014, 17:19 at 5:19 pm #272669

Send it to Lewis and Nico. I’m looking forward to seeing one of them pull alongside down the straight at Monza, get out a big stick and flick the other’s mirror off…23rd August 2014, 21:27 at 9:27 pm #271701
“Just twenty years old,” says the Sky woman. 4 years older than Max Verstappen, then…
Here’s hoping they change the chicane after this. It’s slow, awkward, seemingly designed to generate track-limits arguments and doesn’t belong at Spa.
