It looks much better. Less aero should make better racing.
From reading other forums (I haven’t found an official source), those rear wheel guards may return for the speedways.

Looking at the LMP2 rules, it would not be possible to build their own chassis as those manufacturers have already been selected for 2017.
    http://www.fia.com/news/2017-lmp2-regulations-four-chassis-constructors-selected
They could still go this way for Torro Rosso and use it as a junior team.

Then they could still go LMP1 too with their own chassis, but this would at best be a year later. An Infiniti branded engine from Nissan maybe a possibility for it too.
I wonder if Adrian Newey has thought about it.
So a quick google search came up with this article from February this year:

Despite the numerous ad breaks, I’m grateful BT Sport kept the coverage running.
It was entertaining once running and I’m throughly enjoying this Indycar series.
I know it’s easy to compare Indycar to F1, but how many of the recent incidents in Indycar would be tolerated in F1?
Hunter-Reay at Longbeach, Power at Longbeach and Bourdais today possibly would pick up F1 style penalty points. But then this is Indycar and I watch it expecting a certain level of action.
It’s a fine line. Punish too much and drivers never try the pass. I’m not saying Indycar have it right, but no referee in any sport will ever pass a decision that is acceptable to both sides of a decision. So I accept the rules and I enjoy the racing and passing with no DRS.

One thing I’d like F1 to adopt would be the red and black tyre markings. I personally don’t care if you have super softs \ softs \ medium. All I want to know is which is the softer and potentially quicker tyre. It’s one less thing for me to work out when watching and certainly would help the casual fan.

Reading that link it’s more of a rumour. No one can or wants to confirm or deny it.

It’s hard to see, but there is a marshall waving a green flag after the pit exit. So after all that I’m satisfied it’s legal. :D
Green on a dull rainy day never shows up well on TV though. F1 drivers have had plenty of experience with spotting flags at speed. I bet you can’t read a pit board from that view on the TV, but the driver probably could.

Before this I thought green and yellow flags were rather simple to follow. My head is spinning now with these Floppy Markers.
Ignoring the validity of the pass, is it too difficult to align up flags and lights? That way we can go back to something easier for the fans to see and understand. Ambiguity can cause incorrect decisions to be made.

I’ve always been a fan of ALMS. Grand AM, until recently, has not been on an available channel to watch.
With the cars, LMP1 looks to be out, but then they always struggled getting LMP1 teams in ALMS.
As long as we still have LMP2 & GT I’ll be happy. They also need to keep the lower cost GTC to encourage the new teams into GT.
Track wise there are plenty of places to race .Looks like 4 tracks doubled up on both series (Laguna Seca, Lime Rock, Mid Ohio, Road America).
Potentially that leaves a pretty awesome looking schedule for a merged series.

Hopefully they can keep LMP2 and GT rules to match close enough to the ACO enabling teams to enter LeMans more cost effectively.
And the DP cars? Well, I’ve never been a fan. Maybe I’ll come round to them eventually. Hopefully a more aesthetically pleasing body will be released for 2014 to help us ALMS fans.

Last thing: What about the LMP1 guest entries for Sebring, Petit LeMans? Will that be a FIA WEC thing now?

I just read it too. I’m not convinced that Hamilton would benefit from going to Mercedes. Surely he doesn’t need to move for financial reasons? Therefore staying with McLaren would make more sense.

The new podium looked quite nice. I like the detail of the past champions around the outside.
Not quite sure about the revolving flags. You know one day they will get stuck.
But who told Kenneth Clarke to stand right in front of Webber? He should be kept well out of the way and the full view should be of the top 3 drivers. Even the TV camera guys were all trying their best to get just Webber in shot by zooming right in on his face. I hope that this was a mistake just for this day and not the way forward for future podium ceremonies. Podiums are for the drivers. Keep the politicians out of it until they have to present the trophies.
Full marks also to the 3 drivers for soaking the Santander girls with champagne too. :D

…and I didn’t have time to stay for Jackie’s questions afterwards, so I can’t comment on that. I’ll have to check out the recording later. However, it may not be as fun for these questions outside if it was chucking it down with rain.

It all depends on your budget and location for shipping. Hyperstimulators have been around for a long time and the design has not changed.
Therefore, you might as well look around and work out which really is the most suitable.
Here’s some examples of budget choice:
Low end (what I would get):
    http://www.gtomegaracing.com/ (Great for UK shipping)
    http://www.rseat.net/
    or your Obutto
High End: (nice compact motion rig option)
    http://www.vesaro.com/
    Silly Money: (£47k excl VAT)
    http://www.brdsim.com/product/simulators/brd-06-car.html

But then BRD make proper F1 simulators, for real race teams and if you have the space that’s pretty good.

Also check out the reviews on http://www.insidesimracing.tv/ as they cover a lot of race rigs.
Bear in mind that you may want to change components a few years down the line.
I for one would not want to have that pedal restriction of a hyperstimulator. You’d need some serious work to fit some pedal sets in there.

Hyundai are not cheap and tacky. Even if they do pay peanuts to their test engineers.

I’ve got VirginMedia and I set my V+ box to 16:9 in the settings.
However, varying channels still fight with the “Auto” setting on the TV. I’ve given up changing it every time I switch channel as it means having 2 remote controls in use.
I connect my V+ box to a standard 32″ CRT (Yes people still use these). I always assumed that when I change to a LCD or equivalent TV I would not have this issue as my Sony CRT maybe just not able to interpret the signal properly via the SCART socket.
@mclaren Is this just with standard aerial, freeview or do you get your TV via Virgin or Sky?
Maybe someone who uses VirginMedia and HDMI can confirm if they get the correct ratio showing.

    @fer-no65 and @dennis
Regarding telemetry. When you look at the more modern PC racing games (sim), quite a lot output Motec log files. You can install the Motec software http://www.motec.com/ on your PC and then analyse the log files just like the real race teams.
For games like rFactor and GTR2 that have F1 mods this can make it very technical.
Get a 2nd monitor and you can use it without exiting the game.

Likewise, Project CARS is looking impressive.

or for a quick look at the latest news.

It’s a unique concept where you sort of pay to assist in the creation of a game. The more you pay, the more feedback you get to put into the product.
It certainly looks good. But as it’s not yet at a final release, more of one for the future.

@justingt5 I’m with you on NetKarPro. @keithcollantine has omitted it on the following.

I’ve not included NetKar – let’s keep it to games people are likely to play in their own homes.

As it does not come with a default F1 simulated car or with any AI I can understand the decision. You need to visit PTR to get the F1 and the F1 race competition.

However. Any PC sim racing F1 fan should not pass it by. It’s a cheap to buy and is just fantastic to drive.
Mind you, you could wait for Assetto Corsa as it’s the next version that the same team are working on.
