Sorry I haven’t been present for a while. I’ve had a bit if mare of a time since getting back off holiday. We’ve got a baby boy and he’s not been well lately so been sorting him out amongst many other things going wrong and causing problems.
I’ll be there for the next race if you haven’t already replaced me.
Is the race off today?
Hi, I’d like to join in the fun please. My gamertag is WashedUpRocker
I guess the detail is all underneath then. The upper surfaces look a bit plane. Slab sided even. Still, nice looking enough though!
Is it an automatic? Couldn’t see Wurtz flappy paddling in that vid.
Is it me or does this car look a bit underdeveloped like the early Toyota F1 cars. Seems they’ve massively underestimated the level of refinement on the Peugeots and Audis.
Surely it must have something to do with volume. Whilst I accept that there are women/young girls interested in motorsport to the point of participation they are still relatively few and far between compared to the male contingent. This then surely means that we are far less likely to discover the female Lewis Hamilton than the male one.
I think the male mind is also more compatible with motorsport. In my experience, men are far better at singlemindedly and selfishly pursuing their interest/obsession regardless of how wreckless or dangerous it is than women. Men seem better able to put thoughts of the kids out of their mind whilst going flat through eau rouge for example whereas women seem to be affected more by the possible ramifications of the danger element and its far reaching impact on family, friends and indeed themselves. Women are also more sensible than men in many respects.
I can’t claim to have any stats on this but I bet it’s similar to paint ball. I bet more men do paint ball than women simply because men find shooting their mates with painful projectiles an acceptable and highly amusing form of entertainment. I may be wrong but I bet the contingent of women that have the same attitude is far fewer in number than the “blokes”.
Also, I think men tend to go for the activities that carry an element of danger because it’s the manly thing to do whereas women may not be as heavily affected by ego and the need for oneupmanship.
Also, I heard that Adrenaline is addictive so if you start out engaging in adrenalin fueled passtimes as a child then would this mean you would continue to need to satiate that addiction with ever bolder and more exciting feats? Perhaps if this is the case then maybe more boys find themselves in this situation than girls. Possibly due to the type of opportunities offered to boys and girls by parents and school.
I’d love to see a girl come in to a top echelon of motorsport and take the fight to the boys but is it really possible. In tennis, men play against other men generally speaking because most women would be disadvataged by the man’s greater physical strength. This is true in many sports, would the same occur in F1 thus requiring a Ladies only category? This would be fantastic because we’d have more GPs to watch!! Bring it on!!
Its a rich and deep subject and hopefully we will find out more about it in the fullness of time.
I always loved Giancarlo Fisichella as a race driver name. Alberto Ascari is pretty cool too! Away from F1 for a second and the Moto GP rider Alvaro Bautista has to be up there with the best of them! Other great Bike Racer names have to Giacomo Agostini and Angel Nieto.
I read an interview with Scott Speed once in which he stated his desire to change his name to Max. Funny guy, shame F1 didn’t work out for him.
Also cool are:
Elio de Angelis
