If I don’t see at least one car in the Martini livery, I’ll be massively disappointed, whatever the alternative is…

@Renner I think it’s because the winner of Le Mans gets the number 1, even in other Le Mans series.

Something else I’ve already posted but it’s probably better to say it here anyways.
Lotus did get some money off the British Government to improve their manufacturing and development facilities. Granted it was only £10.4 million which is only 20% of how much their spending on motorsport. But think about it, if Lotus already had this money put some aside to develop their facilities they may now be able to splash out a bit more on their motorsport projects?31st January 2012, 21:25 at 9:25 pm #191486
Well didn’t Lotus get a large grant from the British Government to develop their manufacturing facilities? @igloo22 John Hindhaugh & Joe Bradley are doing it for Radio Le Mans, not sure if they’re going to be on the TV coverage though.

Exactly, it has extremely narrow front tyres too. I would not like to be the person driving into Indianapolis for the first time in that car.

It does look incredible like, it’s only getting a really small turbo engine too I think (2 litres maybe?) But it’s meant to be incredibly slippery as well as producing considerable downforce, I think it uses ground effect. But they say it can genuinely turn corners rather well, can’t wait to see it in action.

I think it’d actually be slower, granted I’m not the expert you were looking for, but the Veyron basically has two 4 litre V8s. The engine themselves nevermind being absolutely huge would probably weigh the same as an entire F1 car.
Considering the old 3.0 V10s produced pretty much the same power as a Veyron proves my point, an F1 cars aerodynamics is the reason why it’s “slow” compared to a Veyron.
Without the wings and underfloor, but some kind of more basic downforce an F1 car could get close to 300 mph without such an engine.5th December 2011, 10:21 at 10:21 am #186498
Funny story about Josh. My college were testing our Formula Fords at Rockingham a few weeks ago the same day a load of Formula Renaults were testing, there might’ve been a race that weekend with them in or something.
Our cars were on at the same time as the Renaults and our 14 year old Ford with no wings is quite a bit slower and our driver, Martin Byford who raced the Golf for half the season in the BTCC this year, got cut up by Josh going into the first corner. Getting out of the car he said “I just gave the finger to a world champions son!”
I hope the kid does good though, it’d be great if a third generation Hill got into a good seat in F1, I’ll watch the documentary later on too.
