I think this is really annoying.24th March 2013, 11:06 at 11:06 am #229281
Not surprising at all. He’s British, he’s extremely popular, he’s a talented racer and a world champion, and (probably most importantly) he’s very marketable.24th March 2013, 10:47 at 10:47 am #229385

Okay, you don’t like him. That’s fine, but why did you give the race a 1/10? If it was a different driver who won would you have voted it much higher? That’s silly.18th February 2013, 21:42 at 9:42 pm #225314
He also put two wheels on the grass several times. Now I’m not sure it matters with such a slow car but I am quite certain it doesn’t help.
That’s another reason I don’t believe these lap times. Also his lap was very scrappy and he missed multiple apexes but was more than a second faster than all the others? I don’t think so.
Do you really think that the footage you saw of the car going around the track was all from Hamilton’s fastest lap? I don’t think so.23rd September 2012, 8:33 at 8:33 am #210925
I don’t know why people have only just noticed because Maldonado has always been fast. He’s obviously talented, but he’s just never been able to see through the red mist. He has also not apologised for his previous and probably deliberate accidents.
Maybe he has moved on, we’ll see at the end of the year.12th July 2012, 17:27 at 5:27 pm #205612
I agree with everyone here, but still, interesting technology.
I’d love to have near driverless roads though, just sit back and be a passenger.11th July 2012, 16:01 at 4:01 pm #204669
The management system is great and it’s the reason why I wanted to play the game. The driving section on the other hand is very poor. Point and click, top down perspective… what awful controls.10th July 2012, 10:56 at 10:56 am #205312
What I’d suggest is going to Google images, searching for ‘Stirling Moss’ or ‘Fangio’ and in the settings change the image size to large or larger than a specific size you’re after.
I’m not sure how high you want the resolution to be. Here’s a nice one from F1 Fanatic itself of the pair of them:
Oh and here’s a hi-res version of the Monty Python thing:

So, was CERN just a big sofa, and the Higgs-Boson covered in fluff down the back?4th July 2012, 16:28 at 4:28 pm #205050
Putting traditions aside, the only negative thing about canopies I can think of is your second point, creating an obstacle for the driver if he (or indeed she) needs to vacate quickly.
Visibility is another issue but I’m sure manufacturers can produce toughened material with very little glare or distortion.
Perhaps the only option is to keep evolving the helmet.4th July 2012, 15:54 at 3:54 pm #204968
I got Rosberg’s autograph at last year’s Goodwood Festival, along with many other drivers.
It felt special getting those because I waited ages to get to the front, fought with others to secure that spot, when they arrived I actually met them, got to speak to them and they smiled and spoke back. And best of all I got them to sign my things for free.
Memories are far more important than items.3rd July 2012, 14:04 at 2:04 pm #204982
if the speed limit now is 70, people drive at +85mph on the motorways, and by raising it to 80, more people will drive at +90mph.
I disagree. I think the reason people drive at 80mph isn’t because they can get away with that small margin above the speed limit of 70, it’s because it’s around the fastest you can go safely and it feels natural on wide open roads like the M1.3rd July 2012, 14:02 at 2:02 pm #204981
55mph is ridiculous. As others have said here, speeding isn’t a problem as long as you keep your distance. I drive at 80mph all the time on motorways perfectly safely.
The most dangerous drivers aren’t the fast ones, they’re the ones who are driving out of their limits or far too close to each other, whether it’s at 55 or 80.30th June 2012, 14:19 at 2:19 pm #204255
There’s absolutely no way the Admiralty Arch would be allowed to driven through, for safety reasons. That’s way too dangerous.
Definitely a PR stunt.
