I somewhat disagree with the COTD – though the argument that the fans like to continue watching the races they grew up watching may be viable. I certainly put my rose-tinted glasses on when I playback the races of […]

You don’t need to harken back to Schumacher era for non-DRS, durable tyres. Just rewatch some races in 2007. Interesting championship? – Yes. Interesting races – definitely No. 2008 was “saved” by the fact that […]

Hamilton was not able to beat Button on regular basis. What makes you think that Perez can? He is certainly not faster than Hamilton.

einariliyev commented on the post, Hamilton: It’s “crazy” Kovalainen hasn’t got a seat 3 months, 2 weeks ago
I respectfully disagree. Fresh rookies have to be brought into the sport, pay-drivers or not, and show what they’ve got. Most of the drivers mentioned here had ample chance to demonstrate their talent, and have […]

@ baldgye it would be horrible, but if they were able to replace vodafone colours with orange, it’d be pretty great – see here. http://imgur.com/UoNJ61X
otherwise im pretty tired of mclaren livery. -

Formula 1 is supposed to be the showcase pinnacle of motorsport technology, the best of the best tech developed by world’s best engineers. In that sense the engines should too, move forward at a certain rate, as […]

einariliyev commented on the post, Russian Grand Prix gets November date for 2014 3 months, 4 weeks ago
I think cold is an added dimension to the race. Russia is often associated with cold, harsh weather – from the point of view of advertising it is only logical to market the race as the coldest on f1 calendar. […]

einariliyev commented on the post, Russian Grand Prix organisers happy with progress 4 months, 4 weeks ago
Admittedly I’m no F1 track expert – but the circuit does not exactly look “flowing” like Austin for example, or the greater classic tracks – sure it doesn’t have boring technical bits – but none of the turns look […]

Although I’d love it for Keith to take a holiday, I guess this is why this site is hands-down the best web resource on Formula 1 – good-quality articles added every day, no excuses, no blank patches.

einariliyev commented on the post, Fernando Alonso voted F1 Fanatic Driver of the Year 4 months, 4 weeks ago
I only mentioned it once. And did so to emphasise that I’m basing my opinions on my personal vision of the sport for 15-odd years. If you’ve read any conceit in my comment, or disregard towards others, then I must […]

einariliyev commented on the post, Fernando Alonso voted F1 Fanatic Driver of the Year 4 months, 4 weeks ago
Agreed. Alonso was no better than Vettel this year. The only difference was that when Vettel had a slower car for half the season, he didn’t see the reason to tell us about it every passing second.
Oh, and […]

While Alonso is doubtlessly a very good driver, I too believe he is overrated – in any case he is no better then Vettel or Hamilton (or maybe even Button when he doesn’t have one of his off-days). Sure Alonso is […]

einariliyev commented on the post, Grosjean wins Race of Champions 5 months, 1 week ago
Agreed. Maldonado, to his credit, seemed to mature in his performances as the year progressed. Grosjean, and for that matter Perez as well, seemed to either get worse or keep doing the silly GP2-style crashes […]

einariliyev commented on the post, Grosjean wins Race of Champions 5 months, 1 week ago
In Formula 1 it’s the full package that wins – neither the car nor the driver – but both together. Therefore having the full package is the only way to win – “not wanting to win like that” is not wanting to win at […]

Great report – he has indeed confirmed that Max Chilton will replace Charles Pic (read in original Russian – mine is pretty good).
Other points: He’s confirmed that Marussia will at least try to stay in F1 until […] -

I really hope that Webber Grosjean and Rosberg finish 1-2-3 in this qualifying, give their customary post-quali conference, and then all get demoted back just for everyone to realise that the gearbox penalties are a farce.

@markp i think he meant Nelson “Nelsinho” Piquet Jr; Piquet Sr. certainly didn’t drive at the Singapore 2008 GP.
