I already posted in the similar thread of who are your favourite Motorsport commentators:
https://www.racefans.net/groups/not-f1/forum/topic/who-are-your-favourite-motor-sport-commentators/But essentially…
Croft is an enigma. I actually used to like him when he did the BBC radio 5 live coverage, but he simply does not translate to TV. A good TV commentator is “somebody who improves what you are watching”.Radio is more descriptive as you have no pictures, but TV commentary only needs to compliment the pictures.
Croft does not. He overrides the pictures, opten with conflicting (often wrong) information. Very frustrating.I too have had enough of Brundell for commentary, but he is still good at interviews. PDR is much better (Coulthard would be better still, but impossible while Ch4 are still in the game).
Also slightly different point, but I can’t stand Simon Lazenby. He seems so 1 dimensional and it feels like he is the leader of the really awkward lads club. I don’t rate him as an anchor. Jake Humphreys or Steve Jones are both better in my view.
Agree on the Johnny Herbert disappointment. Also for some reason to me he doesn’t sound right on the F2 commentary. I didn’t believe it was him at first!

It is Sky F1s coverage that ESPN simply forward on (with extra advert breaks), hence you won’tget any American commentatos, neither will ESPN have any input on this front.
This is because ESPN do not want to soend a penny more than the pittance they are already paying to fill the gap in coverage after NBC dropped out. NBC was given grief at times, but I guess you don’t know what you’ve got til its gone.
Downside is now Sky are also owned by Comcast, if NBC get the rights back, it’ll probably be the same unless some serious backing cones in, or maybe a good American driver gets into a top team (or Hass are competing for the championship!).In solidarity, I also get angry with Croft, but mainly cos he misses so much then gets excited about something that he’s wrong about anyway!

The way Lance talks about him sounds more like Lawrence is more his boss than his dad, so I’m sure he wouldn’t have a problem firing him!
I don’t think they need worrg abput Perez crashing into his teammate next year, as Lance will be nowhere near him.

25th March 2017, 23:56 at 11:56 pm #338335Euro BrunParticipantI loved this game so much as a kid. I’m pretty sure this was a major reason I properly got into F1. It came as one of the free games I got with my Amiga 600 aged 7 (back in 1992).
It was so advanced for its time with the car setups etc.
I remember playing 100% race distances, but quickly realising that it was quicker just to take out every opposition car, do enough laps to be in 1st place, then turn invulnerability off and crash myself to finish the race after only a handful of laps!
I’ve still got the manual somewhere. They don’t make guides like that anymore. It is more like an almanac!24th March 2017, 17:27 at 5:27 pm #33821524th March 2017, 17:22 at 5:22 pm #338214Euro BrunParticipant@Tom L.
Yeah close enough. I was going with one step further – 1st world championship events in their respective continents, but countries is also true.21st March 2017, 13:42 at 1:42 pm #337880Euro BrunParticipantThat’s an amazing connection, but way more complex than I was aiming for!
The first races part is the key to the answer
