@hunocsi Glad that I’m not alone in this.

However, what would be really interesting, is if there is anything about this proposal that makes it unworkable and why it is not being used?

For me there is a simple solution, and I’m surprised that it has never been considered or, if it has, never mentioned as far as I can tell.

Once the cars are all behind the safety car then the lapped cars just take a trip through the pit lane on one lap, and rejoin at the back. Job done.

Good effort PM, guess I didn’t read the 20 existing circuits as they are already in.

Yes, Lewis (and I am a fan) is showing double standards here.

If you want to win it the “right way” then you must take the points where you finished without assistance from your team mate, regardless of the point in the season, regardless of “mathematically in it”, regardless of simply team orders and contracts stating number 1.

As soon as your team mate moves over to let you through, whenever that may be, even if it’s just the once, then the championship becomes “assisted”.

However, I think it is fair to say that most, if not all, championships have been “assisted”… for me, at the end of the day, a championship is a championship and a deserving champion does make.

Simply just me and my wee man, both wearing Rossi shirts as it happens.

Did you win a visit to the MTC, is it the travel costs that you are talking about?

Lets not forget for the £55 membership you get a exclusive t-shirt and cap (a t-shirt and cap in the shop is £55)… on top of that you get a snazzy membership card and a pair of photos… okay, the card and photos are a so what… but then you also get a £30 voucher for the e-shop and 15% off anything you buy during your years membership.

Sounds like great value to me… though to pay for a prize seems a bit wrong.

I don’t understand this antagonism, both here and from Luca MZ, towards the new teams. I think they are doing a sterling job in the circumstances and in some cases already walking up the garden path of some of the long established, yet back end midfield runners.

Toyota came into F1 with one of the biggest budgets and what must have been 3 years of preperation and at least a full years private testing… and they were still crap, even considering they had two well established drivers in Salo & McNish.

…and where would Toro Rosso be now if it were not for Red Bull?

Honestly folks, get off the new teams back, they deserve our support.

As I said on twitter just an hour or so ago…

@InsideFerrari Luca, backmarkers have always been part of #F1 & currently you have it easy. So stop moaning & get on with the racing!

I think Lotus will take a win and championship loooooooooooooong before Virgin. Lotus have now left Virgin to fend off HRT, and HRT are proving to be up for the fight.

Sir Richard Branson will only throw money at this for so long before he throws in the towel… they must get results and they must prove progress like every other team on the grid… as EJ says this first year is about Survival. F1 is a cut throat business, and I don’t see that being any different for Virgin.

Don’t forget that Sir RB is on the promise of a Hostess’s uniform should the team fail to better Lotus by year end… and we know how much Sir Richard likes to dress as a lady :-) Let’s see how he swings…

A lot of great laps have been mentioned here already for F1, so outside of F1 I second MotoGP last year at Barcelona… those final laps were spell binding, more so if you were actually there and saw that final move with your own eyes. A moment I will never forget.

When I think of great scraps, I always remember Mansell & Fittipaldi dicing over 2nd position in Cart 1993 at Cleveland, that was brilliant. At work just now, so can’t check the link, but I think it is this one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ND8VCprPuAo

I’ve skimmed the other replies, so apologies if I repeat something here.

Generally I think the comments are great, work really well, and promote great discussions about the topic, easy to add your point and follow. I think some other forums overcomplicate adding comments which puts you off and the simplicity of this solution works very much in its favour, especially if you’re using a smartphone on the train or something.

Suggestions, that are not necessary, but as you are asking…

    1. I think this has already been suggested but, being able to choose between displaying the comments as conversation threads (as current), or just a list by date/time would be great. It sometimes is difficult to know what has recently been added.

    2. Ability to preview your comments, with the markup processed, before submitting. This would help prevent errors as, with the open nature of these comments compared to the forum, I imagine it is more difficult to identify for edit after.

    3. Previously you were able to use buttons to add markup making it really easy. It’s not an issue for me being a developer, but maybe for some others this would help.

If we want to talk about current championships then I think this year has shown how much Button fully deserved last years championship. Brawn was only superior for the first couple of races, Red Bull was equally as fast from the 3rd or 4th race, and then was fully faster from the 6th race onwards. This year Red Bull have been simply the fastest by far from the beginning. Button capitalised when he could in the early races, made strategies work when only the strategy would win the race, gave a commanding performance in THE drivers circuit that is Monaco, and when the Brawn had lost the fight still brought the championship home. Can Red Bull and (the oh so great) Vettel say the same this year so far?

Hamilton will one day make a “deserving” championship, of that I am sure, in fact I am sure he will make many. But 2008 was not his finest hour, that championship was simply won by the driver who failed to back away from it the most.

    Let the flaming commence…

Mine goes everywhere with me, regardless the forum or whatever.

Jim Bambers Lewis Hamilton model (I’m a McLaren Fan & Member), but Lewis is now Googles Android mascot (my phone is an HTC Hero running Google Android, I’m a developer geek!) … if you look closely, but you’re not able to on this forum, the rear wing sports number 46 (get well soon Vale!!) and the flag is a Washington Redskins banner.

All mashed together using Paint.NET, ’nuff said! ;-)
