Like most things that are different, some people will look at it with an open mind and some people will look at it with a closed mind.
If you don’t like the idea of Fanboost and other elements of Formula e just pay no more attention to it and stop getting your knickers in a twist.
It’s only racing after all.
1st July 2014, 12:32 at 12:32 pm #264995MatthewParticipantI’m not too fussed by the Fanboost. It’s not a major selling point but it’s not a major turn off either. 2.5 sec is not a major amount of time & it may not have that big an effect around street circuits.
I’m a bit perplexed by the “race soundtrack” but until the first race I cannot have a critical opinion of it and it may very well work.
I applaud the FE guys for trying something different and it definitely will not be an F1 replacement but it should be a good series. The cars look great compared to the carbon copy race cars of the majority of European single seater series & the hideousness of current F1 cars.
Roll on June 15.
3rd September 2013, 15:06 at 3:06 pm #240294MatthewParticipantThe 2007 Champ Car race at Mont Tremblant is one of my favourite single seater races of all time so I would live Indy Car to return there.
I do not think either series ever raced at Road Atlanta but I have heard about some great races there too.
I think every series should aspire to race on the best circuits available. However as modern F1 is proving the best facility circuits do not mean the best racing circuits.
For the Americas number one open wheel series to not race at Austin (it’s best facility) does seem quite odd but who knows what the F1 contract is.
22nd March 2013, 11:09 at 11:09 am #229199MatthewParticipantThat incident is actually quite scary.
I feel quite unnerved watching it.
Fastest lap deletion is a terrible decision.
A race weekend ban and a hefty fine should have been the minimum.
If you have a problem with what a fellow driver does on the track surely some post session fisticuffs in the pits a la Schumacher/Coulthard is a safer option. Wink wink.

Good opportunity to win some free train travel nd top prize is an ipad.
League name is Serie A league
Password is bacon. Here’s the link http://bit.ly/VWblNh
I’m also doing the Autosport predictor game.
3rd October 2012, 12:39 at 12:39 pm #211661MatthewParticipantIs it not likely that the races next year will simply follow:
Sky, BBC, Sky, BBC, Sky etc etc.
I thought the reason for the races not following that pattern this year was partly due to the BBC’s European championship coverage?
From a personal POV however I’d like:
Australia, Malaysia, China, Canada, GB, Belgium, Korea, Japan, USA, Brazil.
12th April 2012, 14:23 at 2:23 pm #196600MatthewParticipantAfter watching the first 2 races on RTL with 5 live Commentary, I can safely say I’ll be watching the race on the BBC but with 5 Live commentary instead of Ben & DC.
Have thoroughly enjoyed the the 5L comm, much more than I enjoyed the Ben & DC comm when watching the BBC highlights shows.
I very much doubt I’ll get up for the the Pre stuff. I used to get up and watch all the Pre stuff for the early races but I have found that I haven’t felt like I’ve been missing out on anything (or getting withdrawal symptoms) by just getting up when the 5L coverage kicks off about 10mins before the 5 lights go out.
6th March 2012, 11:07 at 11:07 am #195043MatthewParticipantNever got the fascination with the 7Up Jordan. It isn’t anything special
The 2004 Sauber livery, now that’s something special
27th February 2012, 14:56 at 2:56 pm #190048MatthewParticipantJust been doing some thinking and enquiring with Virgin.
If you add the Sky sports pack onto your account, you can take it off after 30days and re add it when you want.
Now as long as you don’t mind watching Europe & Silverstone on the Beeb you can get away with having the Sky sports pack for 7 months totalling (£22.50 * 7) £157.50
Now admittedly this still is a fair bit of money but it is a lot less than £363 for a new 12 month subscription to Sky HD.
16th January 2012, 13:29 at 1:29 pm #190032MatthewParticipantIt’s a terrible deal.
Sorry but one hour of Race action (as confirmed in Ben Edwards interview) is appalling.
It’s not enough, you cannot tell a good story with approx 2 thirds – half the race.
16th January 2012, 12:59 at 12:59 pm #190030MatthewParticipantNever said it was Virgin’s fault.
Just said it was a poor deal and having the audacity to suggest we should watch half the races on the Beeb while subscribing to the Sky F1 channel was a major kick in the teeth.
16th January 2012, 12:30 at 12:30 pm #190027MatthewParticipantJust seen on the VM twitter. someone queried that with Virginmedia that they’d be paying more with them for the SD channel than I would the hd channel with Sky & they replied
“No HD content on Sky for us but you can watch half the races in HD on BBC1”
Wow telling customers to pay £22.50 for the Sky pack, only then to say watch half the races on the Beeb.
That’s left me speechless
16th January 2012, 12:05 at 12:05 pm #190025MatthewParticipantCheapest way to get Sky F1 is:
M+ Tv pack £12.50pm + Sky sports pack £22.50pm = £35.00pm.
So £4.75 more expensive than it is on Sky plus the Virgin will be carrying the SD channel, not the HD channel.
Also that is with the V-HD box so no recording tv like Sky+
Personally I think its a bit of a poor deal, but it is the one I was expecting.
12th December 2011, 11:35 at 11:35 am #184927MatthewParticipantSo I’m going to stab at Bahrain as the last circuit to be run in a different configuration to its normal one
