Alonso would’ve been 41 points behind: they would’ve been fairly close as @f1mre has pointed out and both still firmly in contention.

@f1mre I suspect you’re discounting Italy where he was classified 22nd. That was obviously because he’d stopped with an alternator failure, but nonetheless he was still classified.

@f1mre – I didn’t feel it was at the time but now that I’ve witnessed the 2012 Brazillian GP it pales in comparison!
