“Let’s build the best car we can, let’s spend millions researching new solutions so we can have an advantage over our competition that the FIA will diminish with ballast because that’s the right way to do for the field to be competitive”
Yeah… that always work.
Again. Why? why is this needed? if they don’t want the dominant car to win, why not saying: “ok, as Mercedes is winning too much, from now on the winner will be the first non-Mercedes to cross the finishing line”.
After the races we’ve been having this feels so so out of times!28th July 2014, 9:41 at 9:41 am #268223
@george Got some enemies already…
God was Week 13 stressful. I did a lot of races, and had an astonishing rate of incidents… Maybe the splits were too fast so I got ahead of myself more often than not.
Hope once Season 3 starts, I’ll be against closer competition.
I’m planning on doing the Cadillac, and/or the Spec Ford and/or the Solstice. Buying a 6 track pack would allow me to do 8 weeks of 2 of those season, and get the 10 dollars back. Hope I manage it!
You guys?28th July 2014, 1:10 at 1:10 am #268515
@george BTW, what kind of wheel and pedals are you using? :) just out of curiosity!28th July 2014, 1:08 at 1:08 am #268514
@george you certainly are good ! I cannot imagine how that Lotus behaves. It must be terribly difficult!
I’ll try later to get the Caddy round Laguna and see how far off your pace I am :P!27th July 2014, 17:35 at 5:35 pm #268396
@george I’ve tried it and it’s incredibly difficult. Quite tail happy and incredibly heavy on the front, like it’s never turning in. But I guess I have to give it a try and race it, because it’s the most powerful car I currently own.
I’d like to get the Skippy but to do a full season with it I need to buy even more tracks. I’ll leave that for season 4 I suppose.
I prefer teh MX5. Maybe because I’ve been racing it since day 1. The Solstice in comparision feels like a street car, while the Mazda is like a little touring car.
BTW just had the most amaizing race ever. Started from the pitlane, overtook everyone up to 4th at Lime Rock with the MX5. Missed 4th at the line by 0.008 secs because a backmaker (who was fair, making way and all) slowed me down and I lost momentum.27th July 2014, 5:07 at 5:07 am #268301
I’m on Chrome. And just now, after trying again, I could post in that thread. @davidnotcoulthard27th July 2014, 5:06 at 5:06 am #268300
I made some enemies recently :P Week 13 really is madness https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DdkKcnTFuFw :P
I’m planning on racing 2 of the following 3 D Class series: Cadillacs, Solstice (boring thing!), Spec Fords. I’ll probably try my luck with the Spec Ford, which is something I can drive more or less safely and fast, and try to get used to the faster Caddy.
I’ll buy my first pack of 6 tracks to do the 8 weeks needed to get the 10 dollars in credit. Then I’ll see if I can get the Skippy or something else. :)
you @george ?26th July 2014, 15:50 at 3:50 pm #268228
I cannot comment in the F1 games forum. Checking now if I can here…
EDIT: I can… but I can’t in the iraching thread. I posted a reply and this appears: http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/groups/f1-games/forum/reply/268194/
Just says “Reply To: iRacing Thread” in big blue letters and nothing else.16th July 2014, 22:31 at 10:31 pm #266750
@george this is fantastic help, mate, very much appreciated !
I’ll definetly come to you to ask questions in the (probably very near) future ! :)16th July 2014, 20:24 at 8:24 pm #266743
Yeah, I suppose I can keep myself in Class D. I won’t be part of any Class D races anyway until the end of the season, so whenever I want it or not, I’ll just have to stick with it.
I suppose it’s better to start buying tracks rather than cars. If I buy cars, I probably would have to buy tracks aswell because the calendar is full of tracks I don’t yet own.
BTW, I saw in your link. What is Week 13 exactly? I thought the series ran in a 12 week period.
Also, I see in that link that the series for next season are going to change. Is that always the case after every season? Do they publish the calendar (i.e. the tracks for each week) before the end of the week?
Cheers again ! very helpful !16th July 2014, 12:41 at 12:41 pm #266705
Aaaah wait, I see ! they changed it to Rookie Class, so that’s why I doesn’t add up… Damn, I’ll have to buy content !16th July 2014, 12:27 at 12:27 pm #266703
Yeah, I’m close to Class C now. Only need 2 more races/time trials. :P
Mind if I ask you something @george ? I played 2 races at Laguna Seca with the Legends Ford but none of them counted towards my MPR. Why? was it because it only had 3 people in the race both times? is there a minimum participants requirement for a race to count towards your MPR?
BTW, how do you chat on iracing?? I see your name online but cannot talk to you…14th July 2014, 8:59 at 8:59 am #266446
I’m certainly enjoying it. I like the difficulty. It’s fantastic to try to build up confidence in such tricky cars to drive.
I’m not new to sims, but I’m new to this enviroment of being constantly controlled in case of mistakes. It’s so strictly regulated, and I love it. You don’t get that level of seriousness in any other racing sim.11th July 2014, 21:42 at 9:42 pm #266413
I’ve just got my membership ! Doing my first steps in the Mazda.
Any tips for a beginner?
Fernando Morcillo is my name in game in case anyone wants to befriend :)7th July 2014, 3:06 at 3:06 am #265951
This certainly wasn’t the first time. Remember we all were wondering if it was really better to get knocked out of Q3 and save tyres than do the whole qualifying after Mark Webber went from 18th to 3rd at China in 2011.
But these were special circuimstances. First, the rain in qualying. Secondly, new Silverstone is probably the most overtaking-happy track of the calendar? of the races we’ve seen since the modification in 2010, plenty of overtakings at very different places were in order. Even in 2010, with the hard Bridgestones no KERS and no DRS.
Overtaking’s certainly a lot easier these days. But I suppose it’s still a massive disadvantage to start outside the top 10 for qualy to be pointless.
