@junior-pilot I don’t wish to stomp you but please get your facts right before posting such comments.
While I’m not a fan of Turkey as a nation by any means. Istanbul is not in the middle of a desert like the Bahrain track for instance. Istanbul is a beautiful city that links Europe with Asia. In fact in the entire country there is not desert!
As for the track I do think this is one of his better efforts alongside Malaysia. Turn eight is a masterpiece and I would gladly sacrifice Bahrain, Abu Dhabi and the new Azerbaijan street circuit to get it back on the calendar.
I do agree that this is probably the owner trying to put the track in the spotlight. Attendance will undoubtedly be low like it was back in the old days and with hardly any racing culture the Turks will not suddenly start loving F1.

France has: Magny-Cours, Paul Riccard and Circuit de la Sarthe (Bugatti). So plenty of choice really to host the event. The biggest issue is the French Goverment who won’t spend a single dime on it.

but…
even I cannot stop looking at the classic Jordan yellow and black
28th January 2015, 21:52 at 9:52 pm #291007Force MaikelParticipantI wouldn’t get your hopes up for a red and white Mclaren either…

10th December 2014, 18:01 at 6:01 pm #288545Force MaikelParticipant3 cars so far
2007/2008: School trip to Brussels and in a shopping mall on one of the bussiest streets I found a Sauber F1.06 on display, I believe it was because they were selling Certina watches.
2010: Went to spa for the Racing days by Renault and got up and close to the Renault R29 but then painted in the 2010 livery.
2014: Same event, diffrent car and team, this time the Championship winning Red Bull RB8 with 2014 livery
Hope to add more to the list when I visist the German Grand Prix next year
8th December 2014, 18:29 at 6:29 pm #288355Force MaikelParticipantI higly doubt it, Vettel is a competitive guy, no way he deliberatly underperformed so he could get out of his Red Bull contract.
……and he didn’t see an opportunity, he was asked by Mattiacci in september when Fernando asked Ferrari if he could leave. Vettel in return ambushed Red Bull.
It was merely a coincidence, nothing more. I also higly doubt a team absolutly wants to retain a driver that doesn’t want to drive for them. They would have allowed him to leave either way albeit after Ferrari/Vettel had payed them a compensation.
6th December 2014, 23:34 at 11:34 pm #288254Force MaikelParticipantYes, McLaren is in
chaosdisarea (better word) right now, not a position Ron wanted to be in right now, especialy now Honda is comming in. Not forgetting he promised the board of shareholders a title sponsor this year, a promise he has definetly not deliverd. This has been one of my great anoyances with this years Silly Season, Ferrari is in Chaos but McLaren-Honda is going to dominate F1, at least that is what the average F1 fans seems to think.
This drama/saga about the 2015 drivers is just redicoulus, we know Alonso is going there, why they haven’t acounced it is beyond me. Then there is the Button/Magnussen case, what on earth have they more to talk about more, it’s not like they don’t have some data to compare both of them…
It makes the management look weak, which it probably is. Ron Dennis is not making a good impression on his comeback as a McLaren boss. Looks like he has the same problem as Bernie, that is being stuck in the 80’s
Then there is the techniacl departement, Sam Micheal was hailed as the big name Mclaren neede but after 3 years and 2 horendous cars he is out. Perhaps the only silver linning here is peter prodromou, but then again making a perfect copy of the RB front wing and stiking it onto your car doesn’t make much of an impression either.
So again, Ferrari is in mega trouble but McLaren-Honda will take 2015 by storm?? It’s probably just going to be Mercedes / Williams and Red Bull up front next year.
26th November 2014, 9:12 at 9:12 am #287333Force MaikelParticipantThe fact Alonso made several visits to Mark Webber this year during WEC events makes this rumour even more juicy
23rd November 2014, 19:49 at 7:49 pm #287003Force MaikelParticipantThe champ is allowed to use his own number if he wishes so, never thought anyone would not elect to run the #1.
Mercedes might not agree though and request him to use the #1, for the PR of course.
13th September 2014, 15:52 at 3:52 pm #274553Force MaikelParticipantSo just watched the race and count me hooked! The racing was genuinely good (except for Prost vs Heidfeld) and the pit stops weren’t as dramatic as I thought they would be, the guys at eDams nailed them.
The cars looked slow, because they are slow… 165 km/h was the maximum I spotted out there, that’s what you get when you only have 150 kw compared to the 200 kw for Qualifying but give it some time and they will improve the speed, especially when the series moves away from being a spec series but for now they will remain slow on the straights but the cornering speeds were pleasantly high.
The music bugged me out to but I’ve read on twitter that ITV4 has confirmed it was an issue with the world feed?
5th September 2014, 23:10 at 11:10 pm #273586Force MaikelParticipantGood I have been waiting for another bomb to throw open this championship. Doesn’t look good for Palmer if he loses the championship despite having once a massive lead.
Look what it did to Stefano Coletti, he went from being a hero to become a bit of a laughing stock.
This is the chance for Stoffel to show McLaren they need to get him in F1.
Go Stoffel!
28th August 2014, 19:24 at 7:24 pm #272549Force MaikelParticipantHave no idea where they are going with this but I have to say great job by them to involve the fans.
If only Bernie/FOM could understand the value of social media….
21st August 2014, 8:30 at 8:30 am #270744Force MaikelParticipantHot rumour coming from Italian media: Sebastian Vettel has signed a contract with McLaren for 2015.
Problem is that while creating a buzz on Twitter, no one seems to be able to provide a link to the Italian media reporting this…
3rd August 2014, 18:40 at 6:40 pm #269444Force MaikelParticipantThis decision is stupidity of the highest degree, F1 is going soft on penalties but in F3 the repression is taking on weird forms.
