@fer-no65 The grip levels can vary a lot with the weather, here are the settings and setup I was using http://members.iracing.com/jforum/posts/list/3243916.page (it was two seasons ago so not sure the setup still works). I’m using an old stock Logitech G25 and single monitor.

The L79 is actually quite nice to drive, it’s obviously quite frenetic being an F1 car but it pretty much does what you expect, you can really play with it on the throttle which I like.

    @kingshark
It was a great race today but a bit sour for me only having the highlights to watch. It just makes the strategy so hard to follow in a race like this (they don’t mention when they skip laps) and nothing quite builds up with the same energy.

But as I said above, paying Sky only guarantees they have the money to buy out more sports, and the greater share they have the more they can charge for the privilege. I’m worried if the BBC viewers drop too low Sky could get exclusive rights and then I’ll be out of options.

@fer-no65 Yeah it’s tricky, here’s a demo lap I did for the world cup earlier this year, I ended up doing pretty well in the race but it took a lot of practice to get consistent laps in.

Nice work, Lime Rock isn’t the easiest place to overtake or make up time on. My L79 race went pretty well, finished 47 seconds ahead and lapped 3/4 of the field. Was good training for lapping traffic I suppose :P

Heh yeah I usually stick to hosted races in week 13, doing the Lotus 79 at Long Beach later which hopefully should have better driving standards :P.

Have you tried the Caddy yet? It’s an absolute beast (not necessarily in a good way), like driving a bucking bronco. I always preferred the Solstice to the MX5, although I haven’t driven either in a long time. The SRF is fairly similar to the Skip but I’m not a big fan, feels heavy in comparison and the rear end is very tight.

I might run skips, I fancy something low maintenance this season.

the feeling is increasingly that Sky are not interested in providing a good service for F1 fans, but instead are holding the sport we love to ransom.

Which is what they always do, which is why myself and plenty of others flat out refuse to give money to them, even if it means I get less enjoyment from half the year’s races. The more money they make the more they can afford to buy out everything that is worth anything on free channels.

I dont really think anyone has improved a lot over last year. Perez is getting better results but I think this car probably suits him better (quite similar to his old Sauber), and I’m still not convinced he’s gotten over his over-aggressive racing. I think Maldonado is a better driver than Massa so that would explain Bottas performing better relatively. Chilton seemed to start the year stronger but I’m not sure if that was down to mechanical problems for Bianchi.

The only possible improvement I would say is from Alonso who seems to be back to his 2012 form after being a little bit off last season.

@tommyb89 He almost caused a big accident squeezing Raikkonen into Alonso though. He was a bit naughty a few times actually, I remember when he came out of the pits one lap he squeezed Alonso off the track.

I would go for Ricciardo on…cant remember who it was, the first one where he dummied to the outside into t8.

@fer-no65 Week 13 is just a gap between seasons, there’s usually a big patch and they run unofficial races using whatever new content they’re adding for the next season.

It’s definitely better to stick to one series to begin with for that reason, once you have most of the tracks it gets a lot cheaper but it’s a bit of a bitch starting out. I would say choose a series and buy the first few tracks on the schedule for the 10% or 20% discount and see how you like it.

They usually publish a PDF with the confirmed calendar towards the end of week 12 I think. I’ll link it when I see it.

@fer-no65 For most series it needs 8 drivers to go official (be eligible for championship points), I’m not sure if this works for MPR too.

There is some chat functionality on the main page but it’s pretty crappy, I usually stick to forum PMs.

If you need any help deciding what to buy feel free to ask. Some series are more lively than others and some cars are easier to drive than others. I wouldn’t be in too much of a hurry to get to A-class, you would probably be better off starting in D-class while you learn the systems, B and A-class cars tend to need quite a lot of setup work and they’re not always shared freely. The D-class series usually try to use more free tracks in the schedule to keep costs down too.

Sent a friend request. You’re doing a great job so far @fer-no65 , out of rookie already :D.

We’re on the last week of the rotation this week so it’s time to start thinking on which series you want to compete in next season. According to the forum they’re going to be mixing up some of the road series, here’s the thread http://members.iracing.com/jforum/posts/list/3262489.page .

So close! Wish I hadn’t missed a couple of matches early on now. I also got pretty close with my original prediction :)

I think Whoever wins Group B (Spain or Netherlands) will be in the final against the winner of group G (Germany or Portugal).
