I know what you mean by the next great. As most have pointed out none of them are really greats as it’s current F1 but with that said here are my top 3:

    1) As much as I don’t want to say it – Vettel 4 championships in a row is quite something, although I still think the car had all to play for very much like it was last season for Hamilton. You can argue webber should have got close to him but the reality is Webber did not have the same car and had probably lost the love for F1.

    2) Out of drivers who have the potential I’d say there are about 3. Max Verstappen is first out of all of them. He has a certain spark in his driving. Hulkenburg is another strong potential but with the field so car performance orientated it’s shot him in the foot and I think it’s a great move for him to look into WEC as that’s where the racing is at in my opinion. Jolyon Palmer, test driver for Lotus showed in the Chinese GP weekend and had strong pace and maturity considering he did not know the track he was less than a second I think it was, against Maldonado who was in the top 10 in that practice session.

    3) As much as I hate to say this – The stupid petty drama between Hamilton and Rosberg will go in the history books titled under “When F1 was crap, and Drivers Childish” All this whining on the radio and in interviews that does my head in that everyone seems to love. Man up and drive the pair of them! “My seat is getting really hot”, and all this nonsense and driver assisting stuff. It’s not action.

Obviously this became a short rant, however with all this i think the next greats are in WEC in my opinion. There is racing there and not petty talking. If F1 really wants to grab my attention like it once did, then it needs get rid of DRS, it’s not a technological advance in cars and makes for boring overtakes, I think GP2 shows that DRS is not needed for good racing. They also need to sort money thing out and get rid of Bernie as he’s killing the sport now.

I also forgot Bottas who has amazing potential and just needs to get that Williams behind him again to show he can compete for podiums again.

I’ll give the proper go over the weekend. I’m struggling for inspiration. I’ll get some ideas tonight.

I’m not going to compete in this one as I’m a little busy organising my Classic F1 season. Feel free to join in on that season if you wish. It should be good fun and it’s running on these forums under F1 games. Or just mail me and I’ll get you the link. It’s on Rfactor but if you search around you can actually get it for free now.
Also I can’t find a decent route that doesn’t take me on a boring run along straight roads forever. If it was to find a rally course I’d be in the money as I know loads of roads for that but it’s not so i fail haha. Is certainly a challenge, I have enjoyed looking at peoples courses and have thought thats amazing why couldn’t find that.
I look forward to the next round though.

    Oh ok. No worries @PhilEReid

It turns out my short report was more of an essay. Hopefully people enjoy the read.

I didn’t realise you had to post a commentary of your course so here is a (short) commentary around my track:

T1: Tight 90 degree left turn making sure you take as much of a wide line out ready to flow into the next corner at heavy breaking sector in the track.
T2: Another tricky 90 degree turn in an Adelaide style sector 1 with harsh curbs this corner and a short straight onto the next corner.
T3 and T4: Tight left corners with tricky entry and exit lines that would vary. Make sure you get a good exit out of T4 ready for a straight.
T5 and T6: T5 is a heavy braking flick left which you have to hold a tight exit ready for T6 for another flick right for the next section.
T7: Is a tricky right turn with heavy braking and a high overtaking chance.
T8 and T9: Tight section of track with 2 left corners that will make you need to keep you line tight otherwise you will find yourself in trouble with where the walls of the track would be. Split for Sector 1. Sector 2 starts on the short straight.
T10: A purpose built chicane of a Monaco style to slow the cars down with another high speed run into the next corner.
T11: Heavy braking zone for the hairpin. You have to maintain your flow around these next corners otherwise lap time will take a hit.
T11 and T12: T11 is a fast right with a narrow exit that you have to switch right quickly onto a tricky braking zone T12. Expect locked brakes and dives up the inside in this corner this separates the men from the boys.
T13: Is a flowing right turn at high speeds.
T14 and T15: Tight left and then a tight right. Good overtaking zone possibly.
T16: Flick it left ready for the run down to T17. High traction zone. The straight holds the next split. End of Sector 2. Start of Sector 3.
T17:Is a flatout corner leading to a very hard complex of corners.
T18, T19 and T20: Hard on the brakes to T18 with a tricky apex location with another tricky apex location for T19 hairpin as you try to flow your speed through the corner with a blip on the throttle for acceleration ready for T20 where you are coasting through the corner until you get to the exit for a high traction zone onto a long sweeping section of track this sector.
T21: A long loop of a corner, tricky braking location, very late apex for the fastest line. Ready for the very long run to the pit straight and T1. (please ignore the line for this corner with the chicanes. I could not get the program not to have these in the section).

Hope you enjoyed the commentary of the track.

Here is my track design, I’m surprised how long it took me. This is a complete street circuit. View in both map and satellite. In satellite view will explain more as to how the pit entrance and exit works.

Hope you like it, I was surprised how long it took :)

Ok thanks. So what area should I design my track as I assume the current one is now closed for entries so I want to prepare for the next location.

    @roblo97

Is it possible I could join this contest? I don’t have direct track designing experience but I used to make race tracks for my toy cars when I was young.
Hope that qualifies me to be able to compete in this contest.
