Alonso is banking on Ferrari’s durability. I think Red Bull was on their 8th engine on their last race (India) whereas Ferrari was on their 7th. Each driver is allocated 8 engines per season and each engine is good for about 2-3 races. Alonso has a fresher engine to Vettel’s.
I also believe the engine drops a few horsepower after each race and the chance for an engine failure increases accordingly.
It all boils down to how the team and the driver manage their engines. - AuthorPosts
