Sam Bird has been the ‘almost’ man for the past 3 seasons, just on the outskirts of the title fight. I’d be tempted to put money on him, but can’t believe Renault and Buemi have dropped the ball from last season to this. Should be a tight one!

This is Formula E’s biggest scalp yet. That’s 5 factory teams for Season 6, (Assuming Citroen remain as sponsor, and all the other manufacturers like Porsche/Ferrari/Tesla don’t get involved), and I don’t see any signs of Renault or Jaguar pulling out soon…

Even for me, who started watching F1 in the middle of the ITV era, The Chain is undoubtedly one of the biggest parts of F1 coverage. I often wonder about whoever it was who came into the BBC office with that tape claiming to have found the intro music for the Grand Prix coverage.

If I had to choose anything else, it’d probably have to be ‘Hocus Pocus’ by Focus. Only song that comes close to portraying F1…

Gutted. Already bought tickets for Sunday (Went on the Saturday last year and had a great time), and was relly looking forward to being amongst the first to see the Nissan turn a wheel in anger.

Will still go to Silverstone, but regret passing up LM for another year even more now!

NowTV coverage is nothing fancy and there’s always a terrible time lag

    @f1antics
or anyone else, do you have a figure for how far behind NOW TV is? I’m thinking of using it for the Sky exclusive races (splitting the cost with a friend), is it only around 5-10 minutes?

    1. What country are you in (and state, if applicable)
United Kingdom, switching between England and Wales
    2. Which channels broadcast F1 near you?
No need to include details for broadcasters from other countries whose transmissions you can receive
    BBC/Sky
    3. Do they show all the races live or only a limited number (if so, how many?)
BBC show half live with half highlights, Sky show all live
    4. Do they also show qualifying live? (if so, how many?)
    Same as 3
    5. Do they also show practice sessions live? (if so, how many?)
BBC show practice sessions live when race is live, Sky show all sessions live
    6. If they are a subscription channel, what does a full year’s subscription cost (excluding limited time offers)?
Imagine you’ve just bought a TV and paid any taxes or licenses necessary to operate it. What is the minimum you then have to pay per year in order to watch F1?
Sky costs several hundred a year (never looked into it), but I’d still like to include the £140-odd I pay to watch it on the BBC.
    7. Do they broadcast coverage online? If so please post link/s
Both have online coverage, Sky is behind a paywall (Which can be avoided by streaming)
    8. Please supply any other relevant information such as alternative viewing options
    E.g. Apps
Sky app, BBC Sport App, Radio, Streaming services

The race was a good one. Bit quiet in the middle, but there’s enough action to make a decent highlights reel and get more people hooked in over the season, which is what the series needs first.

Prost’s move was pretty harsh, almost as if he was trying to turn into the pit lane rather than the actual corner, but I don’t think a race ban is warranted. 10-place grid penalty should be enough (as it seems to be a big disadvantage in the spec-format FE).

Fanboost wasn’t mentioned during the race, which means it is effectively a service to the fans rather than something which has a direct impact on the race, which is surely a good thing in both directions?

As opening races go, I think Agag and the FE organisers can be proud of themselves, though anyone having difficulty getting onto the FE website?

I’d love to go, but I’m busy those days! Noo!!!

I went last year when they had the tyre/YDT test, doing the pit walk aswell, and had a thoroughly good day (Weather was scorching, all the teams moaning that the data they were getting was practically useless, but they were still out there 9-5, only stopping for the red flags). The only team that bothered putting anything particularly worthwhile out for the pitwalk was Marrussia, but (as per the COTD last week) they did very well in interacting with the fans. Hopefully some of the other teams take a leaf out of their book for this year.

I’d definitely recommend this. at £35, it’s so much cheaper than a race day, but you get just as much out of it.

I’ve been waiting to see this post for a while, I was rather hoping that Bernie or someone in Russia would be asked and the question eventually make it’s way to the daily round-ups. So far the journalists haven’t been so intrusive in their questions.

I imagine the race will go ahead, provided the situation stays as it currently is. If the situation worsens (strikes on Russia etc.) then we could see the race being called off. A postponement isn’t likely when it’s towards the end of the season, and putting it after Abu Dhabi has plenty of implications for the double points rule.

If it is cancelled, I think it’ll be a shame, it looks like a good track and I’m interested in how any of the races go this year with the new rules..

I reckon it could be Seb Loeb. The only other major champion I can think of who’s expressed an interest in swithing disciplines is Valentino Rossi, but I can’t imagine that…

    2 standout passes this race..
Raikkonen on Schumi – Definitely deserves a nomination considering how well both drivers kept it, and Kimi and Schumi aren’t 2 drivers known for their Mr Nice Guy tactics..

Alonso’s ‘The Flying Finn-esque’ pass on Massa/Webber.. Almost certainly orchestrated by Ferrari, but that doesn’t take much away from it, it was a move that at the time got Alonso the championship, and looked like Alonso taking every opportunity given to him…

Thank you for your responses so far. Just a reminder to anyone who might not have done it, please do it as soon as possible so I’m not waiting forever for a decent sample size!
