I think a 10 place penalty is fair enough. I don’t think there was malice in Prost’s actions, though it was an exceptionally rash and silly move made in the heat of the moment, and without those stupid high kerbs Heidfeld would’ve spun harmlessly into the barrier. I wouldn’t have complained about a race ban to set an example though, and Prost was pretty classless in the aftermath.
The race itself was good, better than you’d expect from such a tight track. I liked that the cars were seemingly able to run close together, and that overtaking was possible where it probably wouldn’t be in other single seaters. Once we get to more open tracks we could have some really good races. I also like the cars, they look good enough and I don’t have a problem with their speed or sound.
The presentation let it down. The music was unnecessary and annoying and the graphics were almost impossible to read (the speed/gear graphic was excellent though, I’d like to have seen more of it). Also, while I’m glad that Fanboost had a negligible effect, it’s still a stupid idea and it really needs to go.
Overall, a good start. There’s plenty of room for improvement (especially in presentation) but I’m looking forward to the rest of the season.
3rd April 2014, 15:17 at 3:17 pm #255156Lin1876ParticipantI’d like to see F1 2014 work. Admittedly, I haven’t bought an F1 game since F1 2011, but I get the impression that a lot of things like penalties haven’t been fixed since. If we could just get a functionally sorted game (like F1 CE was all those years ago) with the improved weather, damage and handling of the Codemasters games I’d buy into that.
I’d like to see GP2/GP3 in there too if the license permits, and once classic cars were included the natural thing to want is more of them (in the base game, NOT as DLC). So yeah, a technically sorted game with more stuff is what I’d like, surely that’s not too much, right?
15th February 2014, 13:42 at 1:42 pm #248696Lin1876Participant@david-a I won’t be there. Haven’t had any time or motivation to play the game since my Daytona disaster.
15th February 2014, 11:47 at 11:47 am #248682Lin1876ParticipantI haven’t touched GT6 in weeks, and I dare say it’s killed my entusiasm for the series. I was willing to forgive GT5’s problems, but many of them haven’t been fixed and many more have been made worse (mostly in relation to the single player), and I’m feeling much less charitable this time. I don’t even find the driving fun any more since I discovered Race 07 on the PC.
18th January 2014, 14:48 at 2:48 pm #247801Lin1876ParticipantSorry for bailing on you guys, I really wasn’t ready for this week having finally got enough credits together to buy the car about 5 minutes before joining the lobby. I was about 13 seconds per lap off the pace and barely able to make it round the infield without spinning, so I jumped out before I caused a an accident, probably when the leaders came round to lap me. I’ll put my hands up and say that entering today was an error of judgement on my part.
I’ll be back for Spa and I’ll be sure to get some laps under me before then. I don’t mind being at the back, as long as I trust myself to get out the way!
18th January 2014, 12:23 at 12:23 pm #247800Lin1876ParticipantPeople having problems with the update (like I had): Ployphony have released a fix. http://www.gran-turismo.com/us/news/00_3266694.html
In short, you need to press OK within 2 seconds of the initial message appearing on-screen.
18th January 2014, 1:44 at 1:44 am #247798Lin1876Participant@david-a I might actually make tomorrow due to a change of plans, though I’ll be badly unpractised if I do. I’ll know more tomorrow morning.
Guess I should, you know, buy the car.
13th January 2014, 21:40 at 9:40 pm #247790Lin1876ParticipantUnfortunately, it looks like I’ll miss the first few races. I’m probably looking at Spa before I can race, though I won’t rule anything out.
4th January 2014, 18:15 at 6:15 pm #247770Lin1876ParticipantI’ll take the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP Team Peugeot Total ’10. Also, I’ve discussed teaming up with @spud if that’s possible. My PSN is Lin1876.
2nd January 2014, 20:01 at 8:01 pm #247764Lin1876ParticipantHaving just blown a load of credits on a Super GT car I don’t know what car I’ll take, I don’t fancy the big Jag again though, so I’ll try a few out.
But I’m very up for this, even though I won’t make every race.
7th November 2013, 20:57 at 8:57 pm #240168Lin1876Participant@david-a Doubt it I’m afraid. I’ll keep an eye out for anything else happening though, because I really enjoyed the races I did, even if I was at the back!
21st September 2013, 22:51 at 10:51 pm #240084Lin1876ParticipantUnfortunately I’m out for the season. Shame, the big Jag would have been good round Monza.
16th September 2013, 21:14 at 9:14 pm #240080Lin1876Participant@mazdachris It’s fine. We were both on our own at the time so it was funny more than anything. Glad I’m not the only one in a “proper” Le Mans car, when you went past the pits the noise from the Mazda more than made up for the fact I was being lapped!
@david-a Is this bigger than our little group here? I don’t recall Jake, Paul and Crunch posting in this thread, and Paul mentioned something about a league this evening.
16th September 2013, 20:40 at 8:40 pm #240077Lin1876ParticipantMost enjoyable. I was much closer to the pace this week and had a good battle with Paul in the final few laps as I struggled on the hard tyres. As I said, I’m 40/60 for next week and almost certainly out after that, but thanks to @david-a for everything.
For your pleasure, here’s myself and @mazdachris having an “Ooh, that’s going to be expensive” moment:
16th September 2013, 17:42 at 5:42 pm #240073Lin1876ParticipantI’ll be there.
