A shame, but not the end of the world. Considering we only see him ten times a year anyway…
I don’t think Lee should host it though, she is definitely good at interviewing drivers but I think there are better anchor’s around.

Seems a bit of a kick in the teeth to the BBC, after all the faith they’ve put in him. I presume a big reason is so he can spend more time with the family – he must spend an enormous amount of time on the road currently.

I remember back in 2001, a young Sauber driver was making headlines, and thought to be linked to Ferrari. Instead, Kimi joined McLaren. I think IF Hamilton leaves, McLaren should be looking at either Hulkenberg or Perez. I’m another who doesn’t understand the Di Resta hype, and I think it would be deadly dull to see him there with Button.

Furthermore, there are strong rumours about Vodafone pulling out of F1 sponsorship and it would make a lot of sense for McLaren to try and replace them with a similar company, e.g. Telmex?

Gutted for him, when he announced his retirement everyone was saying how he was likely to be able to retire with the title in hand, but to have everything go to pieces must be very depressing. Hope he can make it for the last few races. Pedrosa is looking good, though.

@raymondu999 I’m sure I heard either Kubica or Alonso say it…I’m sure they didn’t come up with it, though.

As Alonso (i think) once said…
If you want a friend, get a dog.

What Ren Ego said…that app (F1 Live Stream) does just what the live timing app we all used last year does, so should be the app of choice of most people. Only annoying thing is it doesn’t display too well on tablets yet.

Another vote for a donation/subscription based model here.

Have you also considered something akin to Joe Saward’s GP+ magazine? Where he has his blog (and The Mole) which he maintains for free, but after every race he releases an e-magazine for subscribers only. It only costs £30 a year, and it’s full of interesting content so I’ve been more than happy to subscribe. I’m sure you could pull off something similar.

I also suspect that he hasn’t really tapped into the ‘App’ market, and I’m sure there’s a LOT of potential for releasing a magazine straight to Ipad/Android/Kindle, which could rake in some considerable money. I downloaded GP+ to my tablet, and it is a great medium on which to consume that sort of content.
With the wide reach this site affords you, it would be easy to generate publicity for it.

We will be on our first GP trip at Silverstone for race day this year with our 3 sons on GA tickets. One of our boys is a wheelchair user and so we have an allocated space on the Woodcote terrace with one of us as his carer. Arriving at 5am, as posted here, could prove quite difficult. Is it likely to be difficult to find space immediately behind his place on the terrace for the other 3 of us who are on GA tickets Unless we arrive at that time? Also how easy will it be to go to and from the terrace during the day? Any advice is much appreciated.

Hi Tony, I took my mum who is disabled and we sat in Woodcote. We got there about 11.00 as I recall, and you have a section that is allocated for you, so no need to turn up early for it. It is reasonably generous, we had space for me, my brother and my mum, and it was comfortable. Getting in/out is really easy, there’s a nice ramp down the middle of the Woodcote grandstand and from there loads of stalls selling all the usual stuff. Literally no trouble to come and go whenever you want. You get a fantastic view, better than the grandstands behind and we saw plenty of action last year, as it is just after the DRS zone so heaps of late breaking, etc.
