cheers @polishboy808. JPS with a modern twist was what i was going for. i agree that the ‘gold’ is a bit yellow, but its difficult to get the reflective gold looking good in the lighting conditions they’ve provided us with on the bodywork. i also wanted it to look punchy for the competition, as a lot of the entries so far make the gold a bit dull.
Having said that, it’s worth remembering that some of the JPS liveries were actually fairly yellow rather than gold –

16th November 2010, 22:38 at 10:38 pm #139132mattclinchParticipantstirling moss? this is really bugging me now (pun intended)
16th November 2010, 22:30 at 10:30 pm #139131mattclinchParticipantby ‘right medium’ i assume you means it is in the novels, rather than the films. i’ve read all the flemings, and its not mentioned in any of the that i can recall.. so i’m thinking its probably in one by john gardner or raymond benson…
16th November 2010, 22:04 at 10:04 pm #139129mattclinchParticipantAmherst Villiers? – “the dark grey 4 1/2 litre Bentley with the Amherst Villiers supercharger”? though i don’t know if he ever raced himself..
..or possibly Graham Hill – i know he was friends with Ian Fleming.

12th November 2010, 17:49 at 5:49 pm #136186mattclinchParticipantIt was quite superb and refreshing. As I said before in this thread – Brundle, Crofty, Davidson. Potential best commentator lineup ever? I can even forgive Davidson his occasional poor use of English.
Finally Brundle has some people who can really discuss the technical details and the ‘art’ of racing with.
10th November 2010, 17:02 at 5:02 pm #136179mattclinchParticipant@sbl on tour – i assure you they we’re not made up. i had a tally chart in front of me and just kept track while watching the race.
8th November 2010, 11:34 at 11:34 am #136159mattclinchParticipanti kept some stats on legard’s commentary for the brazilian race.
21 – times a driver was referred to as going ‘up the hill’.
16 – times a driver was referred to as going ‘down the straight’.
6 – times that he quite clearly got the wrong driver/car/on track battle.
1 – time he completely lost it and descended into a jibbering “nick-nico-ni-ka-ko” mess.

4th November 2010, 17:46 at 5:46 pm #136146mattclinchParticipantBrundle, Crofty, Davidson. 3 in the box, just like Nascar. ’nuff said.

just for the moment jenson does a superb outbraking-down-the-outside move on vettel only for the red bull to be magically replaced by kubicas renault which then squeezes button a hairs-breadth from the inside wall. great battle.
