He is without doubt the greatest F1 driver ever. Those stats prove it, but look at his F2 stats and the non championship races (50ish starts…19 wins and only 4 times out of the points – when he didnt retire).
He also one the Indy 500 once and finished 2nd twice.
…ONLY gained 21 places!!!! Jesus! I was thinking maybe Panis @ Monaco…but no. If its over 21 it must be in the seventies/eighties…
1984, the year Niki Lauda won his 3rd world championship. I vaguely remember the Dallas GP which Rosberg won, but the first vivid memory of “edge of seat” stuff was Sennas wet win in Portugal…after that I was hooked. Still regard the turbo era as the greatest in F1.

This thread could have made for THE most childish string of insults either way…but moreso to Alonso! I belive Alsonso to be the better driver, but I think if he gave his attitude a break he would be unstopable! He’s in the right car with a team of a similar attitude to him. It does irritate me when you hear folk say hes a rubbish driver etc…he’s a double world champion and worthy of that! I also think he will be a triple champion in the coming years.
