Pirelli are doing a great job and should be awarded a 7-year contract, with performance clauses linked to the F1Fanatic Rate the Race feature ;)

@prisoner-monkeys Who do you think would be most likely to replace Razia if he doesn’t come up with the money? Petrov? A different moneyed rookie? I see they don’t have a contracted third driver at the moment.

OllieJ commented on the post, The pay driver debate needs to move on 3 months ago
Well now you’ve put it like that @ilanin I think it’s perfectly fine for my favourite sport to compromise its quality and it doesn’t bother me at all that wastrels like Razia and van der Garde are taking drives […]

OllieJ commented on the post, The pay driver debate needs to move on 3 months ago
@stefmeister Maybe the pay driver situation is not worse (or even better) than the situation 10-15 years ago, but the reason I and probably many others are so annoyed about it this time is that there was a period […]

@hwkii That may be true for Silverstone and Monaco, but there’s no way Spa would be processional without the overtaking gimmicks. DRS arguably makes the racing worse at Spa, as you can easily pass down the long […]

As someone who has only seen F1 on TV, I see where you’re coming from about Silverstone. But it is also a rare high-speed challenge for the drivers and (from what I’ve heard) it’s a great spectator track, with the […]

Why wouldn’t the Singapore GP be able to be held in the rain? Other sports that use floodlights don’t seem to have a problem when it gets a bit wet.
I do love the Marina Bay circuit – the endurance aspect really […] -
OllieJ commented on the post, Razia confirmed in Marussia’s all-rookie squad 3 months, 1 week ago
@vettel1 I have always been pretty hard on Bianchi, and he may well turn out better than I expect, if he does it will rather ruin my ‘unworthy drivers are taking over the grid’ theory! It’s because I see him as […]

OllieJ commented on the post, Razia confirmed in Marussia’s all-rookie squad 3 months, 1 week ago
Three seasons is nowhere near enough @mazdachris They should have to win at least one F1 World Championship as well, junior championships just aren’t worth anything these days ;)

OllieJ commented on the post, Razia confirmed in Marussia’s all-rookie squad 3 months, 1 week ago
@vettel1 The fact that there are only 11 teams now makes it worse, because the unworthy drivers are spread across a smaller number of teams, whereas in 1992 (as an example) there were nine teams that fielded […]

OllieJ commented on the post, Razia confirmed in Marussia’s all-rookie squad 3 months, 1 week ago
Eurgh, I don’t think I’ve ever seen such an underwhelming grid of drivers as this year. At least in the early nineties the top ten teams tended to have decent pilots and it was the other five-or-so teams who […]

Great read. I didn’t even know he designed the 1988-90 McLarens. Always thought it was John Barnard (which is silly now I think about it because I knew he was at Ferrari then)

Nice work Keith. It must be so difficult to make an objective comparison of two drivers, given all the variables.

You’ve just cheered me up a lot! Hopefully 2013 is just a blip and next year we’ll see a lot of genuinely exciting talents like da Costa and Frijns get promoted.
Of the three I mentioned I’m probably being a bit […] -
OllieJ commented on the post, Ferrari helping Bianchi’s F1 bid 4 months ago
If both Bianchi and van der Garde gets F1 seats next year I think it will be a sad reflection on the state of the sport. I’m struggling to think of another driver who’s been less impressive in the lower formulae […]

OllieJ commented on the post, “Caterham has big potential” – Pic 5 months ago
No I wasn’t, I was implying that Kobayashi is too good a driver for the Marussia seat. It’s fine for rookies or pay drivers (whichever label you want to apply to Chilton) but not a driver who’s already proven […]

I agree Palmer, Kobayashi doesn’t deserve a Marussia seat. He deserves one at a team much better than that.
