Journeyer commented on the post, New Jersey race “definitely on” say promoters 1 week, 3 days ago
@pelican Because while it is a popular race for IndyCar, IndyCar is no longer such a popular series. The LA jet-set will show up at a Long Beach F1 race, with Simon Fuller’s help (if anything, a lot of them have […]

Journeyer commented on the post, New Jersey race “definitely on” say promoters 1 week, 3 days ago
@pelican I didn’t even know Arizona was interested – their last F1 attempt at Phoenix was awful. But don’t underestimate Long Beach – it’s one of the most iconic races in America (certainly was back in its F1/CART […]

Prisoner Monkeys commented on the post, New Jersey race “definitely on” say promoters 1 week, 4 days ago
Long Beach is a busy shipping port, not a tourist attraction, it’d be a waste of money for them.
Except that they run an Indycar race there every year.

F1 2 months, 3 weeks agoYep, I think @Pelican has probably found the most common sense reason why this wouldn’t happen – weather.
Particularly the races on the American continents as they traverse the equator seeing extreme weather […] -

It’s a cable channel & it’s location varies by provider like @pelican said. On that website if you scroll down a bit on the right side you’ll see a widget named “NBC Sports Network Finder”, type the 5-digit zip […]

“and let the drivers die”
A low blow @pelican, one can still have safety and technical development ie. an increase in power can be countered by a reduction in swept volume as happened when the engines changed […]

@pelican, as a one time ocean-racer I used to follow the Americas cup closely in the days when it was 1 billionaire versus another in a battle for national pride, you are aware of course that the original deed of […]

@pelican My favorite comment from him on that post:
One has to ask whether F1 is really after “the average tailgating beer drinking American sports fan”.
That’s the spirit, Joe!

well said @pelican, just as the racing works best with cars having different characteristics (good in the wet, mightily fast on the straights, great in corners, reliable, etc.) its far more interesting and exiting […]

aka_robyn commented on the post, McLaren confidence boosted by strong end to season 6 months, 2 weeks ago
@pelican This is exactly what I was thinking. It makes it more interesting to have different drivers racing in different ways, playing to their individual strengths and compensating for their weaknesses. And after […]

F1 6 months, 4 weeks ago@Pelican You are right. I guess I didn’t put it well enough. For sure, Vettel is not the driver, who has made most DRS passes since the beginning of the 2011 season because quite often there is simply no one in […]

@pelican, Fair point, I hadn’t thought of it that way, who cares how many penalties they get if they have already locked in the championship ?

Fer no.65 commented on the post, Rosberg will also have five-place grid penalty 11 months ago
That would pile all the penalties up at the end of the season
@pelican it’s okay with the engines, and it doesn’t happen that much anyway. It’d not happen with gearboxes either.
