petebaldwin commented on the post, FIA wades into tyre row with safety ruling 2 days, 23 hours ago
“It’s hard to find arguments to why this is different”
New to F1 are you? It’s different because previously, it benefited Ferrari and this time, it doesn’t.

Sadly, Ferrari don’t want the tyres to change so we’re stuck with these for the year.

petebaldwin commented on the post, Alonso’s DRS failure the first of its kind – Ferrari 4 weeks ago
As long as the mistakes keep affecting Webber, Red Bull won’t be to worried.

petebaldwin commented on the post, Vettel drives the future Russian GP track in Sochi 4 weeks, 1 day ago
Not sure about the track. Mainly 80-100 degree bends so not sure if this will allow for much overtaking. Fingers crossed I’ll be wrong but it just doesn’t look exciting….

petebaldwin commented on the post, Porsche chose Le Mans over F1 for “road relevance” 4 weeks, 1 day ago
To win F1, you have to have a massive budget and lots of years experience. It’s foolish to think that a new team can enter F1 and compete for a good few years so that leaves you with having to buy a team (like […]

petebaldwin commented on the post, Extra Friday tyres should be for all drivers, say teams 1 month ago
Perhaps they could say that you have to run your reserve driver in a specific amount of sessions during a season? Extra tyres should definately be for all drivers though…
How about a different tyre (a harder […]

petebaldwin commented on the post, Kovalainen returns to Caterham for practice sessions 1 month ago
I give it 2 races until Kovalainen is back in the seat. Once Kovalainen batters Van Der Garde’s quali time in FP1 twice, Caterham will look ridiculous not making the change and will be forced into it.

petebaldwin commented on the post, Pirelli swaps soft tyre for medium in Bahrain 1 month ago
Did they really cave in to the teams though? All I’ve heard this week is about how the tyres were rubbish at China and how it makes a mockery of the sport etc. If anything, they’ve caved in to what the fans […]

petebaldwin commented on the post, Moss doubts women have “mental aptitude” for F1 1 month ago
@me262 – There’s a big difference between what you’re saying and what Stirling Moss is saying. You are stating that based on scientific information “women generally tend to have a reduced sense of spatial […]

petebaldwin commented on the post, Moss doubts women have “mental aptitude” for F1 1 month ago
@matt90 That’s exactly the reason. I karted for over 10 years every other week and I must have only raced against a handful of women. Certainly no more than 10 and probably not even that.
I wonder if part of […]

petebaldwin commented on the post, Horner trashes Webber conspiracy theories 1 month, 1 week ago
It genuainly didn’t cross my mind but as a rule, I don’t believe anything Horner says so I’m caught in an interesting position.
Of more interest to me is the rumours that Mark has signed a deal to race in the […]

petebaldwin commented on the post, Horner: Vettel and Webber have a “healthy rivalry” 1 month, 1 week ago
@billbranch The constructors championship isn’t “the prize”. Sure, Red Bull will get more money for winning it but F1 for the drivers championship. I couldn’t care less who wins the constructors and neither do the […]

petebaldwin commented on the post, Horner: Vettel and Webber have a “healthy rivalry” 1 month, 1 week ago
He clearly has though! He was told not to pass and he did anyway. Red Bull admitted this was the case.
If you boss says “don’t do that” and you think “hmm… nah I think I will do that”, you have undermined […]

petebaldwin commented on the post, Horner: Vettel and Webber have a “healthy rivalry” 1 month, 1 week ago
Vettel went up in my estimation by being honest and saying that he wasn’t really that sorry and that he’d do the same again. Fair play – you can’t argue with that!
Horner can’t really go down in my estimation […]

petebaldwin commented on the post, Hamilton: Soft tyre “not right for this circuit” 1 month, 1 week ago
If they removed the need to use both tyres and start ont the tyre you qualified on, it’d actually be pretty much as it should be! A qualifying tyre that only allows for one quick lap so you have to get it right […]

petebaldwin commented on the post, Red Bull claim new pit stop record of 2.05 seconds 1 month, 2 weeks ago
Are pit-stop times published officially anywhere? It would be really interesting to see how all the teams stack up but I’ve never found the info anywhere…

petebaldwin commented on the post, Button still your favourite but Raikkonen is gaining 1 month, 2 weeks ago
Support for Webber over Vettel isn’t just a British thing. I’d have thought other than Germany, Webber is the more popular Red Bull driver!
Also, regarding Di Resta, I agree that he gets a decent following […]

petebaldwin commented on the post, Button still your favourite but Raikkonen is gaining 1 month, 2 weeks ago
@ivano I think you misunderstood him – he meant that the factory is based in Britain and the staff are British.
Using your argument, Chelsea are a Russian football team and Man Utd are American!

petebaldwin commented on the post, Button still your favourite but Raikkonen is gaining 1 month, 2 weeks ago
I guess it depends where you’re from… Germans supported Schumacher, Spanish support Alonso, Italians support Ferrari and the Polish supported Kubica…. If I had Karthikeyan or Chandhok as my choices, I’d not […]
-
petebaldwin commented on the post, Button still your favourite but Raikkonen is gaining 1 month, 2 weeks ago
I think the 2nd tier is probably about right. He’s in a group with other “decent” drivers such as Coulthard, Webber, Ralf Schumacher etc. All good drivers who, given the chance, could win races but are never going […]
