Robbie commented on the post, Ferrari join Lotus in criticising tyre revisions 2 days ago

As has been pointed out though, the tires are different than two years ago. It’s not about the number of pit stops. It’s about not having a choice but to do 4 stops and still not to have been able to push the car. […]

Exactly…which is why Ferrari’s comments on THW are disingenuine. Anybody actually believe that Ferrari would not be just as vocal as RBR or any other team if the shoe were on the other foot? They’d have brought […]

Robbie commented on the post, Ferrari join Lotus in criticising tyre revisions 2 days, 1 hour ago

I would suggest that what The Horse Whisperer doesn’t get into is WHY this seems to be todays’s reality as they suggest. What has changed then THW? Answer that. All they do is compare to two years ago when the […]

And yet even the winner FA said he was driving at 90%. Had he really had to push, the result might have been dead tires that would have seen him lose places and the race.

Hypocrites? You mean like Ferrari who have enjoyed designer tires in the past, along with unlimited testing of said tires, along with veto power over rule changes. It’s a bit rich for you to call out RBR solely, […]

I just think that is easier said than done. Obviously if the tires were relatively ‘normal’ and weren’t delaminating and causing most teams this much grief, then they would likely agree with you that it is just up […]

Robbie commented on the post, Ferrari join Lotus in criticising tyre revisions 2 days, 1 hour ago

Also, two years ago tires were not at risk of delaminating and actually delaminating. Ferrari is being disingenuine because the tires are different from two years ago…obviously so. To try to bring it down to it […]

Robbie commented on the post, Boullier criticises Pirelli tyre tweaks 2 days, 1 hour ago

@mike I’m sure your point to me is that if I have no proof that others have complained then therefore it must just be RBR. I would say to you that since we are both (I’m assuming) armchair fans you also have no […]

Robbie commented on the post, Boullier criticises Pirelli tyre tweaks 2 days, 23 hours ago

It’s fundamental that F1 doesn’t change this drastically in the middle of a season. It’s very dangerous…

I don’t entirely disagree with that but then, so is delamination of tires dangerous. And so is audience […]

Robbie commented on the post, Boullier criticises Pirelli tyre tweaks 2 days, 23 hours ago

@davef1 Now that I reread your post above I have to disagree that ‘everyone knew what the tires were going to be like.’ If that was the case the teams would be on top of the tires and we wouldn’t be having this […]

And it’s not like Red Bull are totally failing on these tires either. I think they are sitting with very strong odds of another WDC/WCC. I think they, like most of the teams, simply think these tires suck. I’m […]

Robbie commented on the post, Boullier criticises Pirelli tyre tweaks 2 days, 23 hours ago

Can’t agree that this is all about RBR, but agree with you otherwise. RBR may be perceived to have been the most vocal, but that doesn’t mean the other teams weren’t also vocal. It’s hard to quantify who has been […]

Robbie commented on the post, Boullier criticises Pirelli tyre tweaks 2 days, 23 hours ago

F1 is still way too reliant on aero no matter the tires, and I wouldn’t call Pirellis needing 4 stops ‘mechanical strength’ nor for having drivers afraid to pass or defend for fear of killing their tires or taking […]

Robbie commented on the post, What Honda’s comeback means for Formula One 2 days, 23 hours ago

Ok @vettel1 fair comment. I take your point and it’s a good one. I was taking it more from the engine side of things.

Robbie commented on the post, What Honda’s comeback means for Formula One 3 days ago

I don’t think Merc will hurt them either. I would understand if, as 2014 progresses, Merc has to start to withhold some data, which I think Mac will understand, but I doubt Merc would do anything too obvious or […]

Robbie commented on the post, What Honda’s comeback means for Formula One 3 days, 1 hour ago

Hey @vettel1 Just to be clear I think we are on the same page, right? I too take manufacturer based as to mean they run with their own engines, and in fact that is more the rarity than the norm as you point out. […]

Robbie commented on the post, Honda tipped to announce F1 comeback 3 days, 1 hour ago

Yeah I doubt a paint scheme would be enough to lure LH back to Mac. I doubt he will ever go back, but certainly not this soon. That said, even though that paint scheme was for Marlboro, it would be great if they […]

Robbie commented on the post, Honda tipped to announce F1 comeback 3 days, 1 hour ago

Yeah good points, folks. And I’m reminded of one of the comments Ross Brawn made when it was announced that LH would be leaving Mac and going to Merc. He said that in his opinion the place you want to be as a […]

Robbie commented on the post, What Honda’s comeback means for Formula One 3 days, 2 hours ago

Hmmm…can’t say I get the anti drinks company argument. Their money is as green as anyone else’s, they have tons of it, and are willing to spend it in F1, and one could just as easily ask where Renault would be […]
