I also like the classic Ferrari’s, Williams, the Marlboro Mclarens… Especially loved the Jordan 197. But of recent cars, despite the lack of colour, the best one has been the Red Bull Testing Livery from this season IMO.

Does anyone recall why there’s limits to the cars weight distribution?

If we want cars with different abilities, that might be a good place to start in the short term…

I had tears of Joy in 2010…

My first trip overseas took me to Monza, I was adamant Ferrari was going to win that race as the season went on. Got there, and as I thought, they got a 1-3.

I was just outside champagne range, with all the Italians around me screaming the anthem, jeez, it was just unbelievable what I’d experienced.

I still rate Mika very highly, but agree with @debaser91 in that his ’99 season was a bit lucky. He had errors while leading in San Marino and Monza, and had tire issues at Silverstone and Hockenheim (spectacularly).

Schuey returned emphatically in Malaysia, but Mika still had him in Japan. I can’t help but feel MSC would have been more consistently in the points, given Irvine’s victories during Michael’s recovery.

It’s one of my all-time favorite seasons, with Frentzen and Johnny Herbert getting their victories also… was a bit of a lottery. Given that lottery, I feel MSC would have been an 8-time Champion given his psychological character.

How can I contribute to this thread… Agree with MOST good and Bad pairings, particularly Senna/Prost, Hakkinen/Coulthard, Schumacher/Barrichello. Hamilton/Alonso was bad for McLaren, as it lost them the drivers, but gave them the Constructors!

Alex Zanardi and Ralf Schumacher were pretty bad in 1999 at Williams… but then the Williams wasn’t the best of cars.

Andrea de Chesaris needs to feature here somewhere? Surely!
Perhaps with John Watson at Mclaren in ’81?
Or maybe with whichever driver he was paired with at Jordan in ’91?

    Hi Keith,

I just had an idea on the lap time charts that I’d like to share.
The current functionality is great, being able to select individual drivers and so on, it’s brilliant.

It get’s challenging when a Safety car (or VSC) is bought into the race as you always have a huge spike in the middle of the chart, and it makes it hard to see the normal lap-times in green-flag conditions.

I thought it may be possible to have some sort of drag-drop function that resets, or manually selects the largest value represented on the graph?
This would help us ignore the irregular lap speeds and better display the lap times between selected drivers through the race.

Perhaps we can right-click or have a button to reset the axis back to it’s default setting if we want to…

    Scott.

hmm… the best races that I keep going back to watch again…

well, I’d have to say the following three:

    2014 Bahrain GP
I’m pretty sure everyone else will have the description of this race down-pat too, but can’t be beaten for providing a battle between the best of the best at the front for such a sustained time.
The battles Senna and Prost had never went for such a long time at such a close proximity.

    1997 European GP
3 cars with the same pole lap time, older style battle of raw pace and controversy, with a nice finnish.

    1996 Spanish GP
I loved watching Schuey drive through everyone in the rain… Made everyone look like rookies

honorable mentions to 2012 Brazilian GP and 2008 Brazilian GP’s
They’re pretty damn close in terms of the drama they provided, but I never find myself watching them again.

Why not grass-crete between the track limits and the tarmac run-off?

I think it’d still provide a stable yet slippery run off for the sensitive cars, and not risk any catapulting of cars as they hit the tarmac run-off if the grass/dirt recedes from other cars going off…

Are they not cutting it a bit fine with the F1 race date?!

Looks like a massive job over a short few months…

He commentated a little at this years Australian GP I think. Must admit he wasn’t wildly exciting to listen to, but maybe with a bit more practice he can be a great asset to us all!

Another vote for Ricciardo on Hamilton, great pass on the dirty line and lewis knowing it was coming, and what to expect.

I remember lewis saying on ’08 that he doesn’t get passed around the outside :)

Alonso on Ricciardo was brilliant towards the end of the race. He had to work at that pass for laps and laps beforehand.

It’s almost the sort of race where we need a ‘Defence of the race’ award. Ricciardo’s driving was fantastic to keep him behind for that long.

I think the slow zones would definately be worth trying at least. It would save a lot of lost action without compromising safety. It’d be policable through the already built in GPS systems.
