Another vote for Ricciardo on Hamilton, great pass on the dirty line and lewis knowing it was coming, and what to expect.
I remember lewis saying on ’08 that he doesn’t get passed around the outside :)21st July 2014, 5:35 at 5:35 am #267506
Alonso on Ricciardo was brilliant towards the end of the race. He had to work at that pass for laps and laps beforehand.
It’s almost the sort of race where we need a ‘Defence of the race’ award. Ricciardo’s driving was fantastic to keep him behind for that long.26th June 2014, 5:51 at 5:51 am #264437
I think the slow zones would definately be worth trying at least. It would save a lot of lost action without compromising safety. It’d be policable through the already built in GPS systems.23rd June 2014, 4:59 at 4:59 am #264221
Ricciardo on Hulkenberg was brilliant… stuck behind him all race and really had to manufacture a pass after loosing pace on the straight. Going around the outside made it even sweeter!10th June 2014, 2:44 at 2:44 am #262977
Yeah Raikkonen’s pass was pretty good, but it was amidst the start of a race… in normal 1-on-1 conditions, I don’t think he could have done it.
Dan’s was 1-on-1 race conditions, and brilliant. One or two kph more and he’d have been in the T2 outside wall courtesy of the grass!
I haven’t seen Buttons pass, but I have to go on what I’ve seen, and Dan’s gets my vote.7th June 2014, 9:17 at 9:17 am #262580
I went to the Melbourne GP this year and had no issues at all with the noise.
The only thing I really missed was the sound at the start. I was seated at T1 and in past years, you’ve been able to hear the cars coming, building up the atmosphere to when they all appear in a flurry of noise, colour and possibly crashes. This year though, There was no real sound to get the hair on the back on your neck to stand up as they approached.
Beyond that, I really like the sound. No massive noise means you hear so many other noises from the car. I love the mechanical sound of the turbo you hear, and it’s the first time since the late 90′s that I’ve actually heard a lock-up! I could tell the engines apart better and it was better for the family sitting next to me, as their kid wasn’t screaming from the noise :)
I like them, beyond the noise, the cars move around a whole lot more, which makes them a whole lot more enjoyable to watch.27th May 2014, 1:51 at 1:51 am #261823
It’s gotta be Hulkenberg on Magnussen… brilliant pounce on the Merc.13th May 2014, 2:41 at 2:41 am #260140
It’s gotta be Fernando on Kimi… old-school passing was an art form, and that was as close as I’ve seen in the DRS era. started at T1-2, made it stick through 3 and 4.25th January 2014, 8:11 at 8:11 am #247548
On race day, you have to find your spot early there.. it’s best to be closer to T2 on the mound so you can see a bit of T1 also. There’s a screen directly opposite that place too, so great spot to watch the race from.17th January 2014, 1:10 at 1:10 am #247545
heh, @denhugh you should rent the place for the weekend!
I’ll be going all weekend, 15th time in 16 years, love it!17th November 2013, 1:14 at 1:14 am #245304
Half the battle in the race has been in qualifying over the last few years… Mercedes were qualifying well earlier this season which put red bull under a lot more pressure through the races. Red bull get poles back and they’re on easy street again.
So long as Red Bull have good Qualifiers, they’ll generate good race results, and Dan’s quali record speaks for itself.
I hope I’m right!19th August 2013, 0:56 at 12:56 am #240388
The winner of this will be the last chicane at barcelona, and you can add my vote to it’s massive list.
It’s just a useless tiny zit on a track which has so much more character. It ruins the whole lap IMO.2nd February 2013, 11:08 at 11:08 am #224663
Looks a pretty sweet car… but I’m afraid all the cars are starting to look the same!29th September 2012, 9:05 at 9:05 am #211504

Looks like the Green is showing the race again at 13:00.
I’ll be there…
