Yeah, improving the investment in your young driver programme will improve the drivers you have recruited too. Some of them won’t be able to match that investment though, they do peak in ability. :-)22nd August 2014, 18:37 at 6:37 pm #271132
Awesome! I’m glad you’re enjoying the game! :D
Some drivers won’t improve after a while, they’ll reach their max potential. You have to keep an eye on them and release them if you think their just not good enough for you. I trying to work out ways to message that better without it just telling you directly.21st August 2014, 20:40 at 8:40 pm #270988
@mathers Sounds like you’ve had a good career so far! Glad you’re enjoying it. :-)21st August 2014, 20:39 at 8:39 pm #270987
@bradley13 it’s a universal app so you get both for the price. It also has icloud saving so you can transfer your save data super easy without having to plug your devices in. I like the phone version the best though. :D21st August 2014, 13:05 at 1:05 pm #270899
@andra49 That’s awesome. Thanks for such a great comment. :D
The game has actually charted now and is sitting in the top 50 on iPad and top 75 on iPhone. Incredible.21st August 2014, 0:41 at 12:41 am #270865
Oh, and Android version has started development. :D20th August 2014, 20:22 at 8:22 pm #270851
Thanks guys! Argh! I’m so excited and scared!
Another games press quote just came in:
“Motorsport Manager is complex, accessible, beautiful, personal, and I honestly believe that any fan of racing or management games will adore it.”
I think I need a beer. Ha. :D20th August 2014, 17:48 at 5:48 pm #270837
The game is out at midnight tonight.
It’s safe to say I’ve never felt so scared about anything in my life. If you decide to download it thank you so much. :-)18th August 2014, 0:02 at 12:02 am #270571
Oops, Sorry @minnis apologies for the slow reply. It’s been a busy week! The game isn’t out yet, although it has now been approved by Apple. The game requires an iOS device that is running iOS 7. Which means only iPod Touch 5 from the iPod range. I hope that’s okay!
The game will be released this week!
Here’s some promo art to tease you a little until launch. :D10th August 2014, 11:51 at 11:51 am #270241
@jamiefranklinf1 The game has been submitted to the App Store now so it’s too late to change the names now. Although I’ll add it in at a later date if you’d like. :-)8th August 2014, 16:34 at 4:34 pm #269699
You’ll notice in the video he nearly pulls off a one-two finish but his second driver’s tyres hit the cliff and she dropped from 2nd to 5th on the last lap.
You’ll find a lot of this in the game. You’ll be trying to work out if a 2 or 3 stop strategy is going to work well and at times you’ll panic when you realise the tyres just won’t pull off a 2 stopper. Do you leave your guy out there or change early to a 3 stop strategy before getting it too wrong?
Do you split the strategy between your drivers? Will that annoy the fans?
It’s super fun! :D8th August 2014, 16:11 at 4:11 pm #269697
@merioksa Thanks! I really appreciate that. I’ve worked really hard on it. :D
Yeah weather can chop and change and there’s a rough guide (as already noted above :P). I really wanted to put the player in the position of making those tough strategy calls around risking everything on dry tyres in the wet or playing it safe. There’s a lot of different situations in the game that will quite literally leave you watching the rest of the race through your fingers. :-)
It was a good preview video, but other circuits are much nicer to look at. But that’s how these things go.
Not long to go now until it’s no longer my game… but yours. :-)7th August 2014, 17:47 at 5:47 pm #269654
Don’t worry, the Android version won’t be too far behind. I want to make sure it’s done properly though.
No release date yet, but it should be released before the end of the month. I’ll let you guys know when I have a date.
As for the editor. I’m going to focus on the Android version first. I’ve had a 100 people play testing it for me and most have said they were actually surprised they didn’t miss the F1 teams, in fact they felt the game was better for it. I agree. You do get lost in this new motorsport world and it’s all about your own team, you end up not caring about the others unless the rivalry builds (which it always does). :D6th August 2014, 17:37 at 5:37 pm #269607
There’s some more press coverage coming in. This time a hands on play over at AppSpy:
“I don’t think I’ve played a deeper, better looking, more compelling management game than Motorsport Manager in years.” – AppSpy29th July 2014, 23:43 at 11:43 pm #268742
@minnis The Android version will be out before the end of the season, hopefully sooner.
@benh I was just playing through a new game and Firecruiser were my biggest rivals. The name now pains me. ;-)
There have been a few previews written up recently:
“Hands-on with stunning F1 simulator Motorsport Manager for iPhone and iPad” – Pocket Gamer
Motorsport Manager “is presented in a beautifully self-assured package. The UI has a clean-lined iOS 7 feel about it and the races themselves (which play out in real-time but can be sped up if you don’t want to watch all 20-odd laps) are animated on a 3D race course with a striking tilt-shift visual effect.” – Pocket Tactics
