The last 3 champions didn’t light the world on fire.
Sure Palmer had a brilliant season. But only after a few seasons of GP2 that weren’t that great.
He had a super season with the best team. Then Vandoorne is more exciting as he light up the grid in FR3.5 and GP2 as a rookie in what isn’t the best team for the last few years (ever since pirelli came in I think).
If a rookie storms to the title I bet he will get to F1 the next season.

Imaging a whole field of this, it might actually be better than a V8 field! omg26th November 2013, 10:39 at 10:39 am #240487SoLiDGParticipantAs I said before, his return to indycar is great for the series.
They can use this! The attention for just this test has been huge.
I know I will watch indycar more closely this year as I am a huge JPM fan. Love his style.
And it’s great he comes back with a top of the line drive.
So yeah people will expect great things.Glad to hear Power say they have very similar driving styles, as he is probably the quickest driver in the field. So bring it on indy 2014!
18th October 2013, 1:18 at 1:18 am #229986SoLiDGParticipant@nick You think kovalainen isn’t better than Pic or VDG and bring the argument that Pic was good in feeder series. Maybe you should read up on Kovalainen’s feeder series results. He blows away pic’s results!
6th October 2013, 19:58 at 7:58 pm #242591SoLiDGParticipantThat looked scary.. At first it looked to me the front was ripped off.. I was afraid for his legs, but it was just the black of the nose.
Thank god he’s pretty fine as it seems.
The driving standards should be reviewed.. and the tracks they visit!17th September 2013, 9:57 at 9:57 am #240477SoLiDGParticipantFor those not following nascar, Montoya has shown he is a good driver.
But his team isn’t a top team in nascar, which makes it hard to win.
He has had some bad luck a few times because he has been very close to some oval victories.
But in nascar a good driver delivers good top10 results, that’s a good result with a 40+ field. The team has been struggling, but a few races back Montoya got a new car, and since he’s been at the front non stop. I do believe in a better team he would score a few more victories.
That said, I’m very excited that he’ll be driving in the indycay series, they needed a ‘fresh’ face with a huge following and talent to boost the series.
And for those not following that, don’t be afraid of too many ovals, since the merger it’s been a lot less and an oval race now and then is fun!21st August 2013, 10:59 at 10:59 am #240459SoLiDGParticipantIf Bernie would run indycar be sure he would be pulling a lot of strings to get this deal done.
Imagine the publicity this would get!
Hope if he does it, he can be a championship contender.
He has had the bad luck of being against a dominant Ferrari back in the F1 days.20th August 2013, 23:42 at 11:42 pm #240456SoLiDGParticipantMontoya would be great for indycay!
It would get a bigger following in Europe for sure. His epic battle against Andretti at Michigan is still one of the greatest racing videos on youtube..
11th June 2013, 15:31 at 3:31 pm #237597SoLiDGParticipantI noticed this in the race, but I didn’t know if I saw it correctly.. But I did :)
I do like this.. as it’s a thinking mans game when this happens.
Not so much a fan of the 2 drs zones with 1 detection. It made it too powerful and too easy for Alonso to make the move.
A bit of drs is good because we don’t want to go back to racing without on track passings.9th June 2013, 23:18 at 11:18 pm #237564SoLiDGParticipantFIA has just confirmed the marshall has died.
Very very sad news.
These things sadly happen in real life, but it’s so sad when you know
these guys do it for free and the love of the sport… and than this happens :(17th February 2013, 22:21 at 10:21 pm #225274SoLiDGParticipantGetting Alonso in that car would be brilliant indeed! :)
17th February 2013, 21:11 at 9:11 pm #225265SoLiDGParticipantI don’t know but if you follow F1 you should know on pure speed he was much faster than Button.
Button only managed 1 pole for McLaren!
But let’s not get in that discussion again.
It is a known fact that Hamilton is blindingly quick.17th February 2013, 20:52 at 8:52 pm #225258SoLiDGParticipantWhat a stunning lap!
Thought it would be hard to beat Vettel’s time but boy, 1,1 sec faster! He proved once again he is probably the fastest driver in F1 (and the world).
Now let’s get the season started and hope he can do some magic in that Mercedes!13th August 2012, 20:40 at 8:40 pm #207117SoLiDGParticipantDon’t forget Vettel’s impression :)
