A little late in this but since no one said the obvious i will have to say it.
Maldonado crashes doesn’t cost as much as you think at all because the team already creates a number of spare parts if anything goes wrong and those are calculated inside the budget from the start.
The team is forced to create all those spare parts because it has to have them because you never know what might happen no matter the driver.
So even if a constant crashing might force the team to create more spare parts that it initially calculated, still not all crashes are extra cost.

Well now the interview doesn’t seem to exist at all in F1.com.

Well people said that the Horse Whisperer at Ferrari’s site seemed to have gotten more serious lately and maybe the person writing the stuff changed. Now we know where he found his new job, lol.

@Girts: Joe Saward can be affected by his personal feelings but only his personal feelings not specific interests. A good example is how he continuously insisted that Liuzzi is a great F1 driver simply because he liked the guy despite Luizzi not showing much talent in F1 and everyone seeing that his F1 skills aren’t that high. Mallya is another example. His too critical on him at times(not untruthful just not giving him the benefit of the doubt he gives to others) simply because he dislikes his blink attitude. He was critical of Group Lotus even before becoming director in Caterham cars.
Anyway their statement though is rubbish because whether Joe Saward is biased or not is irrelevant since the guy isn’t the source of the information they say he is.
All media basically where saying that Lotus is out F1 after the statements of the Gennii boss who basically left that impression with his statements. When the boss of the team you are cooperating with is the source is ridiculous to throw it at Saward who wasn’t even the first to report on those statements.

Then the answer is simply put an edit button but only for 10 minutes or something. Usually people who spell things wrong notice it after they post something. That will decrease your moderation problem since after 10 minutes something was posted it can’t be changed anymore and i doubt you see everything immediately and not a few good minutes after anyway.
So all those little correction post will disappear and you will have even less to look, also moderation of ever changing comments will not bother you.

    @Magnificent-Geoffrey
Well if they had a faster car and still got beaten by 4 tenths or half a second, basically getting “whupped” as he put it then clearly they aren’t brilliant drivers are they?
So yes it is an insult to them, and it’s even worse considering of who they are.
The only other explanation is that Vettel is sooo good that he can whup drivers that have a faster car and are considered brilliant. Well damn! Then they should all go home and declare Vettel the ultimate driver.

@Magnificent-Geoffrey: He said a lot more than Seb is a good driver. No one has an issue with saying Vettel is a good driver. He basically said that the Mclaren drivers ain’t very good. Are you maybe playing dump because you like Vettel?
And irrelevant of how good Seb is do you honestly believe that the Mclaren drivers aren’t from the best drivers on the grid and deserve such comments? They are both world champions for Christ sake. His comments are nothing but rubbish.

    @Keith
Collantine: I presume Sky took the story from Autosport. Now why they left it for more time it can be that they are ether slow or maybe the one convincing Autosport to delete the story was late in tracing Sky.

Well then It will make the deletion of the article perfectly sensible.

So what could a possible theory be? Someone hacked the Autosport site and raised a fake article under a fake name?

Unacceptable comments to say the least. Imagine being a Mclaren driver and reading that? If the team is ok with him saying such things then what would you think about the team’s opinion of you?

Also the comments about the car are kind of naive too. Is like inviting trouble. When you say staff like that then even if you wouldn’t have any legality problem, now you might do.

Seriously was this guy even using his brain while talking or is he looking to get fired?

So they want the poorer to be even more miserable and have even less things by supporting the pay schemes so they can show how different they are by having exclusivity.

This reminds the reason people with money also hate the existence of pirating movies and staff within the Internet even though many researches prove it has no negative effect on sales. They real reason might be simply because they hate the fact that the poor who can’t buy them are able to get the luxury of something they should only be able to have so they can mock the less fortunate.

Quite a repulsive attitude if you ask me.

Heres something better. Try to convince as much people to stop giving money to pay TV and sky. Then maybe these accursed services will disappear and people will be able to watch their favorite sports in free air TV.

Going to Ferrari won’t do him any good. He will go to Alonso’s team. I actually think his in a good position right now, his like the little leader at Sauber and the team seems to have a decent car. He also needs a little more time to build his experience.

Will Sauber ever build a frond running car though? Indeed that seems like a difficult thing to achieve but seeing as James Key this days seems to be the new magical man after Adrian Newey and Ros Brawn, if they ever had a chance to do it, it will be while this guy is working with them. They just need a little more money.

The guy really is a racer and knows how to fight on the track but we don’t know if he really has the pace(especially qualifying is a big question mark) to face the current two-three top drivers. He certainly has a decent pace since he could handle Heidfeld but how decent we don’t know. If he finds a chance to get a Ferrari,Mclaren,Red Bull seat but can’t win against the known suspects his career could take a downfall. If he believes he can take the challenge it’s still better to first supply himself with as much experience as he can so he can face them, so i think he needs this and at least another year with Sauber.

Personally i only see the Ferrari possibly having an empty seat but Alonso is the last guy you want to face even if you think you are faster because he plays games even outside the cockpit and especially at an environment like Ferrari’s that loves to throw all behind one driver.

If he thinks Sauber is a dead end then his best chance is looking to take a seat at Mercedes since Michael ain’t getting any younger and Rosberg is probably a little more possible to defeat than an Alonso, Vettel or Hamilton.

There is also Renault that may have a seat at some point but with the team changing owners and staff what future brings is a mystery. Mercedes are a more stable environment.

Well when i started watching F1 they were only 3 teams that are still racing today and that was Mclaren,Ferrari and Williams. I loved Ayrton’s driving something that made Mclaren look good to my eyes but i hate just supporting the winning guys and i was more of an Ayrton fan than a certain team fan so i kept watching with out supporting anyone.

Then came the Williams years, Hill looked like a nice guy and after what Schumi did in 1994 i was reluctant to see him with a loving eye.

In the end i didn’t become a Williams fan because although i liked their racing spirit i didn’t like how they handled their drivers, and i crew to enormously dislike Ferrari(who i quite liked when Alesi and Berger drove for it) because the things they did in the Schumi years and the unfair advantages they get seem disgusting to me(getting extra millions bonus just for their name, having the FIA stewards helping them, Being part of the decisions of what the regulations would be so they can fit them, never letting drivers fight and forcing contracted second drivers, their continuing attitude of thinking they are more special that anyone else and they should be left to win) not to mention all the crazy things Schumi was pulling on the track pushing people out of the track all the time.

So i ended-up with Mclaren because they where the guys fighting the “evil” empire of Ferrari and unlike the corporate image many claimed they had all i was seeing in the track was pure racing spirit since many times took risks by having drivers fight with each other, making risky all for the win decisions(example letting Kimi run with a right destroyed tyre and ending-up having the suspension collapse in the last lap instead of playing it safe and pitting for the second place) and staff like that.

The way i saw it, Montezemolo loves Ferrari and only Ferrari, Williams loves Williams and F1, Dennis loves Mclaren, F1 and racers.

@Todfod – First i didn’t compare Prost and Button in terms of who is best and all that. I just talked about their style.

But anyway what so wrong in comparing them if you wanted? The rate of success and popularity doesn’t always tell the full story. Prost had cars capable of fighting for championships for most of his career. About 70%-80% of his years he had a car that could win races. His the second most lucky driver in term of having a good car after Schumacher.

We all know that without a good car, no driver can do anything. Button only got a good car the last two years and the Mclaren wasn’t really that good since Red Bull even had more had a second over it at times. So tell me if he had another 4-5 good cars during his previews years will it have been so strange that he could have been lets say a 3-4 time champion and have a lot higher image that what he has now? That’s a little how Prost did it, because anyone who saw him drive knows that he never was an exciting driver. Hell half the times he was winning because the cars of the other guys broke. But the resolds still kept coming and that made him a legend. And btw Prost screwed-up quite a few strategies himself too. What made him the “proffesor” is that in the end his strategy games and car management gain him more that what he lost when he was getting it wrong. If you count the numbers you will see that even if you take out Button’s two wins he gained quite a few positions by going long in the first stint and things like that in many races this year.

You just have to remove those glasses that make the past always seem more awesome.

Today’s grid is a lot more competitive that those times. My opinion is that drivers today can’t distinguish there self as much because the teams are close and there are quite a few top level awesome drivers. I would say in terms of talent we have two Senna’s (Alonso.Hamilon), three Prost’s (Webber,Button,Rosberg), a Clark(Vettel), a G.Hill(Kubica) and oh! yeah Schumacher. Although i still don’t know if his still a Schumacher.

As about pace. Sure if you are simply slow, no strategy or tyre/car management can get you a win but Button isn’t slow as you think at all. He may not always have Hamilton’s pace but his close enough to be a thread if Hamilton slips even a little. Take the year with the Brawn. Everyone says Barichello is a decent driver, if we exclude who won what and all that and just take their race pace when they didn’t had cars in-frond of them you will see that Button always had a few tenths over Barichello in race pace. And in F1 a few tenths is all that separates the good from the better. Schumacher wasn’t putting seconds per lap from Barichello ether. So it’s obvious that Button has pace and that’s why he can become dangerous with a little more careful strategy.

I think Button will surprise quite a few in 2011.
